Emma has been on a tear all year long. There is no better way to put this, she is the most dominant player in the state! She has the size, strength and skill to show for this and if you are still skeptical then take a look at her numbers! She is averaging an outstanding 21.6 points per game and 17.9 rebounds per game along with 2 steals and nearly 4 blocks every contest. There is not another player who is putting up numbers near hers as far as dominating the glass, scoring in the paint and protecting the paint with her ability to block shots and wall up to make drives and finish attempt’s extremely difficult for opposing players. She is having one of the most impressive seasons so far, excited to see how things shake out for South Summit and Emma heading into playoffs.
Being on a very good team can sometimes lead to certain players being overshadowed even if they are an important piece to team success. Sarah is exactly that! She is the bruiser and the anchor for this extremely talented Lone Peak roster. Sarah has proven to be one of the states biggest matchup nightmares because of her ability to create scoring opportunities with her back to the basket as well as her ability to pop out and hit a mid range jump shot as well. At her size being 6’2 with her length makes it hard for the opponent to have a clean look at the hoop for a finish as well as making it hard to find a clear lane to drive in to the basket. Sarah has done her job this season and has been a significant role for this Lone Peak team to go 9-0 and remain undefeated in a very solid reason. Ready to see what Sarah can do in the post season as the knights chase yet another ring!
Grace is what we like to a call a double double machine. Grace is a 6’3 center with great size and phenomenal touch around the rim. This makes her one of the most powerful players in the paint in the state. She is currently averaging a 12 point and 12 rebound double double per ball game and has had some huge performances like her game against Kearns on the 2nd where she recorded 25 points, 20 rebounds and 8 blocks! This is one of the biggest performances we have seen all year. Grace has proven to be an extremely essential piece for this Hunter High team and doesn’t only stuff the stat sheet on points and rebounds but also averages a whopping 3.6 blocks a game which shows she can really help hold down the paint defensively. On top of all of this, Grace is currently only a FRESHMAN so we are very excited to see what the future holds for her. Grace has been dominant all year and we are ready to see what she does in playoffs.
It’s always great to spotlight an incredible athlete’s individual performance, especially when they are putting up as impressive performances as Chezlie has been displaying all season. It’s even better when that athlete’s team is succeeding because of their outstanding efforts. Chezlie is one of the few players at her size who can really do it all. Her game reflects this but so does her stats and the end result for most of North Summits games this season. She is leading the way as they are sitting at 22-2 on the season after going 11-0 in region play, taking care of everyone. She has had multiple games with 20+ points and 10+ rebounds and is currently averaging a double double with points at 16 and rebounds at nearly 11 a ball game. She is a great passer for her position as well averaging nearly 3 assists and chipping in 2.5 blocks and 1 steal per ball game. Chezlie has proven her value and dominance all season long and has crushed her senior campaign so far!
Elise has been one of those players who has flown under the radar for some time. She has good size and great feel and touch around the rim. She has soft touch off the glass on her finesse finishes after making strong, powerful moves to the basket. Elise is unique because she is not only limited to the paint offensively, she has plenty of different areas where she can affect the game. She can pop out of the paint to the perimeter and get a good look from the 3 and is more than capable of knocking it drown, as well as getting the catch on the wing and seeing over top of defenders to make the right read and hit somebody going down hill. One of the skills she possesses that doesn’t show up on the stats is her screen setting ability, she is very solid on holding her screens and making sure she is in the right position at the right time. Elise has been dominant all year and has been great to see her shine.
Highlights
Ashley is about as solid as it gets when it comes to a post player. She is very very athletic with her vertical jump and is agile moving side to side. She is one of the few girls at her position who can be switched on to a guard on the perimeter and do just fine defensively. This makes her extremely versatile and a huge get for College Of Southern Idaho which is where she is committed to play after her time at Wasatch High. She has had some monster performances such as her game Vs. Cedar Valley where she dropped 19 points and 20 rebounds in a 15 point win. Another one of the few players in the state averaging a double double at 18.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per ball game she has demonstrated dominance in the paint at her position. Stay tuned to see what Ashley and her Wasatch Wasps can do in the state tournament!
Kali is crushing it so far this season. Holding down the paint and showing she can do it with the best of them! She’s currently averaging a near 12 point 12 rebound double double while also recording 2 steals a game. Defensively she is a threat, at her size making it hard for opponents to finish over the top as well as having quick hands guarding the pick and roll and the post up she is able to make a ton of deflections or cause turnovers. Mountain Crest is sitting 2nd in region and right above .500 for the year so they are looking to Kali for a spark heading into playoffs. Kali, keep being dominant
