Ahh yes! The one game that matters to get to the state tournament. This game is for all the marbles ladies and gentlemen. To be in this situation, first off it is an honor. Secondly, you had to go through a gauntlet of teams and handle adversity extremely well. To get to this point isn't easy and the state is within your grasp.

Teams from all over went toe-to-toe last night in fierce battles. Though neither team is eliminated, it does determine if you travel to another hostile environment across state or host an opponent from somewhere else. A lot of times, the opponent you face, may not be someone you have faced before. So attention to detail is at all-time premium, being sharp at practice, you only have a couple of days to sharpen everything down.

Either way, it's high stakes single elimination from here on out. This is what the tournament should be all about. Here is a recap of all the Region Championship scores.

Gatlinburg-Pittman (68) vs. Alcoa (53)

North Greene (17) vs. Cloudland (26)

Sevier Co. Congrats to all teams. The job isn't done yet.

Here are some standout players from the Region Championship games.

[player_tooltip player_id='625400' first='Kabria' last='Revels'] (5'8/Sr./F/Beech)- I'm going to say this, the work this lady does sometimes goes unnoticed and doesn't always add up in the stat column. She's been having a heck of a tournament, but it's her ability to do the other things that matter. “ The saying “We>Me,” Kabria exemplifies that motto. She sacrifices nightly (she can score it from all 3 levels), but scoring is what she sacrifices to help propel her team. I said it, defense travels and this kid is a lockdown defender. Named MVP last night, she put the ball in the hoop, grabbed boards, got a few clutch steals, but held their best opponent at bay. Solid kid who brings up lunchpail to the game every time she steps onto the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='366664' first='Lyriq' last='Mastin'] ( 5'6/Jr./PG/ Blackman)- She is on a tear right now. Dropped 15 points and got after it. She was the leading scoring threat for the Lady Blaze, however there is so much more to her game than just that. She had timely assists, exploited weaknesses in the defense, and was active on the defensive end. She and her Lady Blaze teammates have some unfinished business to attend to. With her confidence riding high, look for Lyriq to continue to ascend on this upwards trajectory.

[player_tooltip player_id='625399' first='Morgan' last='Williams'] (5'6/Sr./PG/ Bartlett)- She's a dawg. A tough competitor who does whatever it takes. She's a multi-level scoring threat who is the ultimate teammate. Last night she was named MVP region 8-4A MVP,leading the way with 13 points for the Lady Panthers. She brought the energy and it showed on both ends of the floor. This kid can play and when her number is called, expect an all out relentless effort every time she steps onto the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='816585' first='KJ' last='McNealy'] (5'11/So./CG/ Farragut) and [player_tooltip player_id='810510' first='Annie' last='Priest'] (5'6/Jr./G/ Farragut)- It was a team effort and these two led the way for the Lady Admirals. KJ dropped 16 points and Annie brought home 14 points. Don't get me wrong, they were hitting clutch shots all over the floor, but it was their emphasis on defensive principles and getting stops that I personally came away impressed with. Both of these girls play the game with a lot of heart and passion, but it is their ability to go out and be efficient executors that really set them apart. A nice 1-2 punch, these young ladies are tough to deal.

Now that the region championship games are in the books, the sub-state round tips off Saturday. The winner gets to travel to the Boro and play in the glass house for an opportunity to compete for the state trophy. Here are the matchups for Saturday's showdowns!

(The host team is listed second on the right.)

Sunbright vs. Cloudland

Meigs Co. vs. Gatlinburg-Pittman

Northview Academy vs. Greeneville

Bearden vs. Sevier Co.

Elizabethton vs. Cocke Co.

Dobyns- Bennett vs. Farragut

Alcoa vs. McMinn Central

North Greene vs. Midway

Oakland vs. Bradley Central

White Co. vs. Heritage

Clay Co. vs. Van Buren Co.

Pearl-Cohn vs. York Institute

Cleveland vs. Blackman

Smith Co. vs. East Nashville

Copper Basin vs. Pickett Co.

Signal Mountain vs. Upperman

Hendersonville vs. Coffee Co.

Cheatham Co. vs. Loretto

McEwen vs. Moore Co.

Chester Co. vs. Station Camp

Lincoln Co. vs. Beech

Summertown vs. Huntingdon

Macon Co. vs. Jackson South Side

Eagleville vs. Wayne Co.

Collierville vs. Clarksville

Trezevant vs. Gibson Co.

University-Memphis vs. South Fulton

Rossview vs. Bartlett

Westview vs. Memphis Business

Greenfield vs. Middle College

When Saturday arrives, we will be in March. Welcome to the Madness ladies and gentlemen!
