Johnson brings so much to the table and she falls into that “nightmare to defend” category because her handling of the ball can be hypnotizing to defenders, then you throw the turbo as she she explodes off the dribble to finish strongly and at times acrobatically after contact. Yeah, the body control has something to do with, so does her athleticism which she uses on both ends like “on the ball pressure” yet her “catch and shoot from outside was clicking
Hunt mixed it up nicely to take the defender off the dribble to score. Her deceptive first step, her slight HEZ and even a little bit of the STUTTA were all nice, so was her body control on her finishes after contact. She also dished off the dribble, as well as in the set plus her defense in the halfcourt was solid
Green gets the cover fora variety of reasons starting with I wrote BEAST in caps yet no CAP, her going AFTA everything took me back to that #THROWBACK era and with her being “long and athletic” which is and always will be the base, her scoring around the basket showing the hands and footwork was nice. She also scored off the dribble and showed good timing to block shots
Coleman as also “long and athletic” and it seems like I’ve been watching her forever but her “on the court” progression, her work ethic as well her desire has always stood out, yet watching her create her shot under pressure and dropping the mid to long-range jumper, while being defended was nice, so was her scoring off the dribble and finishing after contact
Norwood had me smiling as she showed the pull-up jumper, no that wasn’t the reason, it was her adding the “step back” to it. She also gave me a glimpse of the “catch and shoot” but her deceptive first step got the defender off balance for her to score off the dribble. I guess I’ll drop the #THROWBACK because she did something I don’t see enough of and that was “followed her shot”
Walker also gets the #THROWBACK because she too followed her shot. I love simple things that turn out to be big and not only was that a plus, so was her court vision as well as getting hers “in the flow”. She did a good job setting the defender up to attack the basket off the dribble, her defense was solid and she played within herself
