<p>Regardless of the sport, going from middle school to high school can be challenging. It's magnified even more when going from a middle school team to a Varsity team. As challenging as it is, the position an athlete plays can make the transition a little smoother or more difficult. One position that can bring plenty of nuances and obstacles is the point guard position. In this article, we look at some of the Freshman point guards who faced the challenges head on and excelled at one of the toughest positions to play in basketball. </p>

<p><strong>T<span style="text-decoration: underline">HE DOWN HILL POINT GUARD</span></strong></p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='741737' first='Harmeni' last='Eugene'] is a dangerous point guard with the ball in her hands. She is constantly on the attack and loves to put the defense o alertand on its heels. Eugene is athletic and can get to the rim and finish. She was a standout at the PGH Freshman Expo and caught a lot of attention, playing her game - getting down hill and scoring the ball. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='843386' first='Lyric' last='Hewitt'] was a standout this year at Atlantic Coast and helped their squad have one of the best seasons in hgr school's history. Hewitt can handle the rock the rock, has good change of direction, and she loves to get down hill. She was impressive all season with her aggressiveness and ability to get to the rim. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='843385' first='Tasandra' last='Williams'] is a young guard to pay attention to. She has the ability to go left or right and loves to get down hill and be on the attack. Williams is dangerous in transition and is another player who is dangerous in the transition game. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='400809' first='Esa' last='Brenneman'] is one of the most athletic players on this list and she did a good job of running the point this season. Brenneman has the ability to put the ball down on the floor and can get down in a hurry. She has the ability to elevate above the defender with her jumping ability. Brennerman loves to attack the defender and get down hill. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='748532' first='Whitney' last='Hudson'] had a productive Freshman season and a lot of things were impressive about her game. She was fun to watch with her ability to get to the goal and create shots with a little sauce on them. She was a young player whose coach had a lot of confidence in her ability and production in crunch time. </p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">SCORING FROM THE POINT POSITION </span></strong></p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='741735' first='Kimora' last='Exum'] averaged 16.2 points per game and 2.7 assists. The guard got her team involved from the guard position, but also put the ball in the rim. She scored in a variety of ways, but getting to the rim was one of the main tools in her repertoire.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='738971' first='Gabi' last='Iturralde'] is another special young guard who did an excellent job of leading her team from the point position. She handled the ball, got the ball to her three point shooters, played great defense and was disruptive at the top, and put the ball in the basket. Itturalde averaged 13.6 points per game and was a consistent scorer all season long. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='874206' first='Bianca' last='Hall'] scored well from the point position, averaging 15.2 points per game and scoring 366 points in her Freshman season. Hall had 6 games with 20 or more points, including one game with 28 points. Hall can flat out score the ball. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='439457' first='Nevaeh' last='Lee'] scored 438 points for the season and averaged 15.1 points per game. The Freshman led her team in scoring and also led them in steals. Steals leads to fast breaks and scores. </p>
