Hewitt’s separator was her poise and calm demeanor under pressure — traits of a true floor general. In Hewitt’s case, she’s a floor general who can create for herself, draw pressure and kick out to the open shooter, or find the big on a cut or roll to the basket. She was a standout guard at the showcase whose ability to touch the paint consistently stood out. Her personality and basketball IQ were equally impressive. With those traits and an elite “bag,” Hewitt and company should make plenty of noise this season — especially in the paint.

She is a solid on-ball defender who can also anticipate and jump passing lanes. Offensively, Hewitt attacks the rim with purpose, creates for others as a playmaker, and keeps teammates involved within the flow of the game. She also shows the ability to score in the mid-range, and can score in transition and attacking the rim off the dribble.

Last season, Hewitt averaged 7.5 points, 3.8 assists, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.2 steals per game. She plays with a strong feel for the game, contributing on both ends with her ability to create for others, crash the glass from the guard spot, and disrupt the opposition with tight on-ball defense. Her instincts and anticipation show up in the stat sheet, and her motor and awareness make her a consistent presence who affects the game on both sides of the court

Hewitt is primed to have a breakout season where her game morphs into a leadership position and production all over the court, including double-digit scoring. Hewitt can handle the ball, and she is also very good in the open court. She also does a nice job of getting to the rim and scoring Hewitt is a very good defender, and her ability to apply on-ball pressure is disruptive to the opposition. She does a good job of playing in the passing lanes. Hewitt has the ability to cover the opposition’s top guard. As good as she was as a Freshman, Hewitt is destined for a standout season in her Sophomore season.
