Gabi was very impressive in her team’s win by scoring efficiently and attacking the basket with confidence. She made numerous winning plays on both ends of the floor and showed savvy with her shot fakes which created space before driving in for buckets. She’s a smart, dynamic player who impacts the game in multiple ways.

She spaces the floor, controls pace, and values each possession. She is a playmaking guard who consistently makes the right play on the court. — a steadying force who makes the right play at the right time. She does have the ability to score the ball and if she gets a step or leverage on a defender, she does have the ability to get to the rim and score. Iturralde can also shoot the three and score in the paint with an array of floaters and spin moves. On defense, she plays the backside like a safety and constantly creates turnovers and easy baskets for her team.

Her spin moves shredded defenders, she had the jump shot falling, and she consistently finished strong at the rim. Iturralde’s versatility, physicality, and determination to get downhill forced opponents to adjust defensively, and she established herself as one of the toughest match-ups on the floor. Her ball handling and ability to hit the jump shot consistently has put her at a different level. With the State Championship games now moved to Jacksonville, Iturralde’s intensity could carry her team to the State Championship which will now be on their home turf.

The Junior point guard set the tone early and showed she can control tempo as a point guard or slide into a scoring role as a two, setting the tone on the scoreboard. With some talented additions to Tocoi’s roster, Iturralde will showcase a lot more of her shooting skills at the one and and at the two position.

Iturralde plays the passing lanes well and is very good at anticipating the pass. She has active hands and reads the floor well on both sides of the floor. On one play, she pressed up against the opposing guard, ripped the guard, dove on the floor, retrieved the ball, and dished to a cutting teammate while on her back. On offense she was really dishing the ball off of her drives to the rim- mainly showing her playmaking skills. Iturralde can shoot it, pass it, and clamp down on the opponent. She performs when it counts and that was the case in Kentucky. She “rose” to the occasion- something that is expected from the talented point guard.

She has great court vision and always looking to advance the ball vertically. Her vision combined with her basketball IQ allows her to anticipate and not just react. She can handle the ball well and can get to the rim and finish with either hand. Don’t sleep on the jumper. The now Junior point guard will make you pay. Her three point shot is consistent was 42 percent great last season. Defensively, Iturralde is a ball hawk. She plays the passing lanes very well and she looks like a safety in transition defense. Her versatility makes her a dangerous player on the floor and she will be one to see during the live period.
