Modern basketball has placed even more of an emphasis on shooting from deep, here’s the prospects that caught the eye in a recent rewatching of games from this past season.
Game Watched: vs Union February 29th
The versatile wing could be a candidate for many of the superlative articles, but the way she shot the ball in the clutch moments stood out the most. She drilled big three and three in the fourth quarter of Bixby’s win over Union. Many of them were of the catch and shoot variety, including deeper looks. There was also a time where she pushed the ball in transition, probed the interior, then found herself left wide open from three. The result was a swish. Wernli’s ability to push it off of defensive boards and other transition opportunities is one of the aspects that makes her game unique. She’s has some point guard qualities to her game, while having the height and capabilities of a wing. It was also a game where she adjusted from having some turnover issues in the first half, to turning into a locked in playmaker and scorer who was a big reason why Bixby won.
Game Watched: vs Glenpool, March 7th
The eastern Oklahoma standout torched the nets in her Big House appearance. Her stellar shooting performance including a deep 3 from the OSSAA logo in the fourth, which momentarily cut the deficit to three points. She was a consistent perimeter threat throughout, hitting catch and shoot threes, while also putting it on the floor in the mid-range and getting to the rim. Along with her impressive offensive capabilities, she has active long arms leading to a snatch block and disrupting passing lanes.

Game Watched: vs Riverside, March 8th
The first catch and shoot three that the sophomore hit in the contest inspired the note “looked pure”. Mong has good form on her jumper, and she hit big three pointers throughout the semifinal victory for the eventual State Champs. While most of her shots were nothing but net swishes, she might have gotten lucky with a banked in three to beat the third quarter buzzer. But good shooters tend to create their own luck.
Along with her contributions from the perimeter, she did a little bit of everything for the Oilerettes. She crashed the glass and was a key part of being able to handle the pressure defense Riverside applied. Mong often did this with good vision and steely nerves to hit longer passes to her teammates, instead of trying to dribble her way through the waves of pressure. With a Class 2A State Championship on her resume, the sophomore sharpshooter from Western Oklahoma is now a prospect to keep tabs on.
Game Watched: vs Locust Grove, March 7th
Hull blistered the nets, often from the corners, all game long in Glenpool’s quarterfinal victory. The junior knows her role as a floor spacer for her athletic teammates and anytime she was left open in the State Tournament contest, she made the defense play. While big three pointers (counted at least 4 of them) were her primary contribution, she also got after it on the defensive end. She won some 50-50 balls with hustle plays and forced a jumpball as well.

Game Watched: vs Lawton Mac, February 6th
The Del City lead guard has other good aspects to her game, including some good cross court passing in this contest, but shooting appears to be one of her strong suits. She first caught the eye at the State Tournament, when she poured in 20 points (including 3 three-pointers vs) El Reno. So it was good to see in a follow up viewing that her accuracy and deep range are a common theme for Hunt.
