Sport Complex in Edmund, Oklahoma. Three games across the two age groups were played on Friday’s opening night. Take a look at some players who stood out.
Ally Baustert, 5’10”, Okarche (OK), Team Price 2026, 2026 – Despite the team’s rough opening half there was a lot to like about the second half. Baustert and her teammates picked up the half court defense and were very deliberate about finding someone to box inside and on the perimeter when their opponent took a shot. Baustert a big part of that by being very active on the glass and just battling inside on both ends. Baustert changes ends well and I look forward to seeing more of her offensive game, including in transition, over the next couple of days.
Peyton Gittelman, 5’6″, Rejoice Christian (OK), iD3NTITY Elite 2026 Watson/Wright, 2027 – iD3NTITY had a big first half in their opening game. The team was hot from the perimeter and Gittelman showed a quick, smooth and soft shot off the catch. She showed good speed in transition and competed well on the other end, limiting good perimeter looks.
Millie MacPherson, 5’4″, PG, Logan-Rogersville (MO), Missouri Flight 2027, 2027 – There was a great deal to like about the Flight point guard. It starts with court vision and good handles. While her passes were not always spot on (that will come) MacPherson saw the look that needed to be made. In transition, working on the perimeter and off the drive. She also will shoot the three with a quick release. A player to watch in the years ahead as her game matures.
Siaunna Carter, 5’6″, PG/SG, The Independent School (KS), KS Bluejays 2027, 2028 – The Bluejays stomped on the gas from the moment go. The solidly built guard with a strong base showed speed and quickness on both ends of the floor. At the top of full court pressure she and her teammates sped up their opponent and created numerous turnovers in the mid- and back-court areas. She showed smarts to strip from behind in trapping situations, an ability to tap the ball from ball handler and then beat her to the loose ball. Offensively Carter got to the rim, split defenders in broken play situations and scored creatively off the bounce and inside with either hand. She is also a perimeter threat.
Reid Ragsdale, 5’4″, G, Lake Highlands (TX), Triumph 2027 Select, 2028 – Ragsdale is a talented, athletic guard who has quickness and a little shimmy that gets her to the rim. She finishes with athleticism and elevation, altering her shot as needed depending on the shot challenge. Her teammates did some nice things to push her team to a solid win but Ragsdale gave them that extra ability that was hard to take away. Defensively she showed solid hand speed and good transition ability off a quick possession change.
