It was an enjoyable day to catch some AAU basketball at the OAW Sports Complex in New Berlin, WI. The courts were packed with 16U and 17U teams as they participated in the Prep Girls Hoops’ – Legacy Region Kick-Off.
For most of the day I had an excellent seat to watch two games at once and new games happened every hour. Below are the four of the best I saw on the day.
This prospect played at a high level for the game I took in. The pace at which she moves on the floor was defense breaking. They just couldn’t handle what she was bringing with her play. I first noticed her on a drive to the hoop where she left her defender in cement with a beautiful euro step layup. Next, she was in transition where she weaved through defenders the length court. At the end of this play she had a sweet dish to her teammate for the easy score. Her defense was spot on and high pressure, as I continually saw her pickup at half court and shut down the opponent’s lead guard. For someone to play this level of defense is a ‘want to’ as she had numerous steals and/or disruptions.

This one right here is known for her shooting and she didn’t disappoint in the first game I saw. Playing for a solid Air Minnesota 2025 team the Onalaska, WI native was the leading scorer in the game, posting 20 points. What is special about it was the six threes she poured in. But what was even more crucial was when she did it. Hitting five of those shots in the second half, in a very closely contested contest.
This prospect also displayed an uncommon swager of confidence and what might have appeared to be a passion for the game. She was playing on the right team for everyone was cheering each other on throughout the game.
I later found out; she already holds a state high school record with the most threes made in a single game with 9. Let this be a notice to those that are going to play her next. DO NOT GIVE HER SPACE, because she’ll drain it on you.

This one right here is a player and what might more important than that, she is a shooter.
A college coach once said something that stuck with me when we were comparing evaluations. ‘At some point, at some level, you have to be able to shoot.’ He was talking about why he wasn’t going to offer a well-known prospect.
Well, here we all go, because this one can. She was a big factor in her team’s big win in the morning. Her coach mentioned that she hit 8 3-pointers on the contest and frankly all I knew, after losing count, was that something special was happening.
The prospect is a 5’9″ combo guard out of Fremd, Illinois who is currently ranked 26th in the 2025 class. With this shot form and this production that ranking might change.
Let’s all keep track of her this spring/summer.

This prospect only scored 5 points in her team’s narrow win Saturday morning. But that is not why she had me jump up out of my seat. Her 5 points were a 3-pointer early in the second half and then a short put back bucket as the closing second were almost expired. The game winner!!!! It was also how she did it; by hustling and by working for a rebound. That’s good enough for me to list her here.
