I never know where the inspiration for a scouting report will come from.

This particular idea for a report came to me this morning while listening to the theme music of the “Four Horsemen,” while completing my treadmill workout at the gym.

By now anyone familiar with me knows that rebounding is my favorite skill to scout, so here is a look at six Kansas prospects who finished with at least four rebounds per game during their past prep seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='525606' first='Landry' last='O'Brien'], 5'8”, SG, Labette County, ‘25

O'Brien is currently ranked No. 69 overall in the class of 2025 by Prep Girls Hoops. She grabbed 4.8 rebounds per game during her junior season. She played 23 games for the Grizzlies and scored 11.6 points per game. I scouted O'Brien during the state basketball tournament in March and was impressed by the poise in her game and the willingness to work for good rebounding position.

[player_tooltip player_id='1107859' first='Kenna' last='Wesner'], 5'8”, SF, Marion, ‘25

Wesner is currently unranked by the Prep Girls Hoops but finished with 4.8 rebounds during her junior season for the Warriors. In 21 games last season, she scored nine points per game, and picked opponents' pockets for 1.7 steals per contest. Wesner is also a solid volleyball prospect who finished with 156 kills and 216 digs for Marion.

Chesnea Cochren, 5'8”, G, Jackson Heights, ‘26

Cochren is a versatile athlete who I saw play last December. She is currently an unranked athlete, who finished with an average of 4.9 boards per game for the Jackson Heights Cobras. Cochren averaged eight points in 21 contests. She appeared in just four varsity games as a freshman, so I expect her game to improve as she gains more varsity experience.

[player_tooltip player_id='719106' first='Cammi' last='Unruh'], 5'8”, G, Moundridge, ‘26

Unruh is an athlete ranked at both Prep Girls Hoops and Prep Dig. She is ranked No. 69 overall by the Kansas basketball site and No. 91 by Prep Network's Kansas volleyball site. Unruh is the highest scorer in this group scoring 14.8 points per game. Her bulky basketball stat line included 4.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and three steals per contest. During her sophomore volleyball campaign, she finished with 256 kills, 351 digs, and 303 assists in 88 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='1266902' first='Drew' last='Bruna'], 5'11”, PF, Hanover, ‘27

Bruna is a two-sport prospect for the Hanover Wildcats. She averaged 4.8 rebounds and 5.8 points per game as a freshman. She is currently unranked by Prep Girls Hoops, however, she is ranked No. 12 overall by Prep Dig as a middle hitter. She is athletic and has big ups.

[player_tooltip player_id='1202728' first='Jordyn' last='Cox'], 5'7”, G, Northern Valley, ‘27

Cox grabbed 4.4 rebounds per contest in 25 games played last season for the Northern Valley Huskies. She also scored 5.4 points per game and played solid defense averaging 1.6 steals over those 24 games during her freshman season.
