BCAT Game Notes: What College Coaches Saw (Wed June 19th Edition)

I watched Sevier County play Lebanon, and she was guarding some of the most athletic kids in the state out of sheer will. She's not a supreme athlete, but does have supreme heart. She's beginning to become a more consistent scoring threat as she enters her sophomore year, showing of a nice floater and decent 3 ball. She's also a fantastic cutter as [player_tooltip player_id='631090' first='Cybil' last='Penland'] found her multiple times. Her intangibles are off the charts, and she truly understands the game, where the ball should go, and when. When she caught in the high post vs Lebanon she created havoc. She's great at turning and facing the rim, and either attacking, hitting a cutter, or if the D collapses skipping to a weakside shooter. She's beginning to get more and more consistent from three, and is without a doubt, and college level kid. She was also tremendous on both the offensive and defensive glass using high level athleticism and instincts.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">She had the ball in her had a ton versus Lebanon's pressure defense, and showed off and much more polished offensive game than I knew. She made some bullet "on time, on target" passes that I just didn't know she had in her repertoire. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She didn't score a ton, but the Lebanon full-court run and jump got the ball out of her hands early and Sevier shot a lot of quick shots. She handled Lebanon's full court run and jump well, and made them pay when she got out in transition. She's wide shouldered and knows how to use her body to do all the important stuff: create scoring angles, box out, deny the post, etc. I've seen quite a few kids exactly like her go on to have tremendous HS careers, and she's got a nice motor that will give her a chance. Plus, Sevier seems to do a great job with player development, so you gotta believe she's going to get much better in time.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
