This season will be a new look squad with several seniors moving onto the college ranks. One player 8th grader from a season ago [player_tooltip player_id='553681' first='A'raina' last='Ross'] is now in Florence at Wilson HS. The Lady Gamecocks will really have to rely on some new faces this season to step up. Junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='429824' first='Jailyn' last='Williams'] returns down in the post

Oceanside Collegiate Played Well Here Today:

The Lady Landsharks played well here today behind the foursome of [player_tooltip player_id='496223' first='Ella' last='Mae Schepp'], [player_tooltip player_id='496228' first='Josie' last='Hanks'], [player_tooltip player_id='688841' first='Henley' last='Hanks'] and [player_tooltip player_id='688645' first='Ella' last='Hunter']. Oceanside Collegiate really shot the ball well today from the perimeter. Schepp was spotting up and knocking down the 3-point ball all day long from the corners. [player_tooltip player_id='496228' first='Josie' last='Hanks'] was able to score the rock from 3 levels here today quite effectively. Josie hit some pull-up jumpers in transition when she wasn't launching it from behind the arc.

[player_tooltip player_id='688841' first='Henley' last='Hanks'] was able to slash to the cup and score on the break here today in some solid wins over Lee Central HS and Summerville HS. [player_tooltip player_id='688645' first='Ella' last='Hunter'] was on fire in the opener vs the Lady Stallions of Lee Central HS. Hunter knocked down several three-pointers. Ella is a undersized off guard with a nice stroke when she gets time and space for her shot.

Military Magnet Academy is Back:

The Lady Eagles will rely on the senior trio [player_tooltip player_id='196266' first='Dream' last='Watson'], [player_tooltip player_id='252502' first='Sabri' last='Mitchell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='366548' first='Dejamari' last='Pugh'] this season. The Lady Eagles lost in the Lower State Championship Game last season to Lake View HS. Military Magnet Academy has plenty of talent back and then some more added to the mix.

Watson is a relentless guard who plays the game 94 feet at all times. Dream is shifty with the ball in her hands and getting to the basket. She brings plenty of ball pressure and a set of quick hands that lead to several uncontested layups heading to the other end each game. Dream dropped a few floaters here today when she wasn't using her nice pull-up game from mid-range.

Mitchell a wing player is a very quick leaper and has a knack for swatting away a few shots from time to time. Sabri feels comfortable playing from 17-19 feet out with her jumper. She fills the lane well in transition and has no problems jumping on the deck for a 50/50 ball.

Pugh is a physical guard-forward who really likes to have the ball in her hands. She connected on a few open looks today from the floor.

Dennis Leads Lady Stallions:

[player_tooltip player_id='370642' first='Ke'myra' last='Dennis'] had a very good day here for the Lady Stallions. Dennis was active on both ends of the floor with her play. She looked to step-up and make some clutch shots down the stretch for her team. Ke'myra is not afraid of a challenge on the floor when it comes to making a shot or stepping up on the defensive end.

Johnson Takes over at Manning HS:

Justin Johnson has a new challenge and it's back home with the Manning HS Lady Monarchs. Johnson a Manning Graduate came back home after 6 seasons of running the program at nearby Hartsville HS. The Lady Monarchs were a bit short numbers here today but look for results to start moving forward in the future with Johnson at the helm at his alma mater.

How did the Lady Bears look?:

The host Carvers Bay Lady Bears really started off slow in an opening round game vs James Island HS here today. The Lady Bears will have some growing pains here this season. The program will rely on senior to be [player_tooltip player_id='175335' first='Jasmyn' last='Jenkins'], [player_tooltip player_id='356320' first='D'Essence' last='Graham'], [player_tooltip player_id='496206' first='Alana' last='Morris'] and [player_tooltip player_id='668305' first='Jurnee' last='Blye'].

Top Performers Today (In no particular order):

[player_tooltip player_id='196266' first='Dream' last='Watson'] - Military Magnet Academy

[player_tooltip player_id='496228' first='Josie' last='Hanks'] - Oceanside Collegiate

[player_tooltip player_id='496223' first='Ella' last='Mae Schepp'] - Oceanside Collegiate

[player_tooltip player_id='453217' first='Molly' last='Daugherty'] - Summerville HS

[player_tooltip player_id='370642' first='Ke'myra' last='Dennis'] - Lee Central HS (Bishopville)
