The Brodhead guard took that added responsibility like a duck to water and thrived as the focal point of what the Cardinals did. She flew around the floor defensively and constantly made plays on the ball. On the offensive end, she used ball screens well to find open looks, got to the basket at will, and knocked down a fair amount of floaters. She's among the best kids people don't know much about yet.

Everyone on Oregon's 2023-24 team bought into what they wanted to do so much, and Schoenecker is one who bought into her sixth-person role and dominated in it. I felt like Schoenecker was the Panthers' best source of creation off the dribble because of how powerful she's been getting downhill, paired with her footwork around the rim. However, she was also one of the better shooters last season, making around 40% of her threes. I didn't feel like anything she did last year was based on being on a winning team or a flukey season, like some kids have had because whenever they needed her in competitive games, she found a way to make plays. She's another one who may not pick up as much traction this summer as others, but coaches will start loving what she does soon.

Not many guards exploded onto the high school scene like [player_tooltip player_id='509695' first='Emily' last='Urban'] did this season. Kimberly wants their guards to read the floor and make quick reads as their shooters work away from the ball, trying to get into space, which Urban excels at. She's an athletic kid who can turn the corner on talented defensive guards and find her open teammates in a split second when the defense collapses. She's the key that unlocks everything Kimberly's offense when she's on the floor. Urban didn't play massive minutes in her first year but earned a starting role on a team as talented as Kimberly, which is as impressive as it gets. She's the kind of guard coaches want. She's also one of the rare kids I wish would shoot more, but I understand why she doesn't.

The Darlington native is the definition of a point forward. Gratz has been a kid I've liked more this past season as the year went on. I thought she did an excellent job being a high-level utility kind of player on the offensive end of the floor. You might see her running off off-ball screens, being the ball-handler in a pick-and-roll, or attacking her defender's hip and getting to the basket. Gratz has proven to be a productive small-school performer and will be one of the more intriguing kids to follow in recruiting over the next year.

There are kids with bad injury luck, and there's [player_tooltip player_id='766630' first='Ava' last='Koch']'s injury luck. After two ACL tears, she finally got a stretch of high school games under her belt and played well for Omro. In her second game back, Koch knocked down a go-ahead floater to give the Foxes a narrow one-point win over Winneconne. If that doesn't show confidence, I'm not sure what would. She's got some skill around the rim and has shown flashes of her perimeter game coming around. The talent has always been there, even when the health hasn't. She's the kind of player you root for.
