As session one of the spring Grassroots season comes to an end, we look to update our rankings for each class in preparation for the summer high school season and second session of Grassroots basketball. There were many prospects who demonstrated a progression in their game during the high school season and added an exclamation point with a strong Grassroots session this spring. These are the point guard prospects who moved up our rankings with notable performances and progress during our evaluations.

Stock Risers

Josie Desmit-5-5-[program_tooltip program_id='713442' first='MBA' last='UAA']-Hudsonville

Josie was one of the best-kept secrets in the state, but the time has come for her to step out into the spotlight. She earned her rightful place as one of our top point guards in the 2025 class with outstanding play in front of our scouts. Her ball-handling control vision, passing skill with both hands, defensive discipline, and efficiency as a shooter from 3 against elite competition is what sets her apart. She is a positive communicator, energizer, and supporter of teammates in her program. Josie makes smart reads and takes the right shots. She is physically built for the next level and works hard defensively. Josie is a top PG who was voted BCAM BEST D1 following her Junior season and she showed her greatness this spring.

Read more about Josie

[player_tooltip player_id='716473' first='Melanin' last='Holman']-5-5-[program_tooltip program_id='713024' first='Michigan' last='Drive Premier']-Vinson-Kenowa Hills

Melanin reminds me of the Roadrunner cartoon because she runs circles around other guards. She has elite speed and a motor to win one on one battles on both ends. Melanin creates constant turnovers with her pressure and finishes well in the paint. She is a streaky shooter who will need to develop her mid/outside shot to be effective in college. Melanin is a competitor, gamer, and dominant guard who I have been high on since I saw her over a year ago. She is physically strong and can make cross-court passes. Her handles have improved mightily and she has the athleticism to be a special point guard at the next level. Melanin's consistent dominance at showcases, high school games, and this spring earned her recognition as one of Michigan's top point guard prospects.

Read more about Melanin

[player_tooltip player_id='663349' first='Isabella' last='Nooe']-5-3-Mystics Black-South Lyon

Isabella is a running back playing the point guard position. She competes with an edge on both ends of the court and drives to the hole with a quick burst. Izzy makes the grit plays by guarding the ball with strong defensive pressure without fouling; she chases down 50/50 balls and battles for rebounds. Izzy made clutch plays for her team this spring, drilling a game-winning 3-pointer and creating offense off the dribble. Izzy has a reputation for her physical strength, toughness, leadership, and two-way play. She built on her outstanding high school season with a strong spring and earned her place as one of Michigan's top point guard prospects.

Read more about Izzy

[player_tooltip player_id='612997' first='Diavian' last='Robinson']-5-3-Lady FVV-Clarenceville

Diavian has been an exciting point guard to watch on the basketball court this spring. She is a tenacious on-ball defender who constantly creates steals and then turns on the jets to score transition layups. Diavian blows by defenders off the dribble and has great footwork and elevation to finish inside. Diavian also has the vision to draw the help and dish to open teammates. She works hard on both ends of the court and has unique athleticism that combined with her combination of dribbles makes her an outstanding next-level point guard prospect.

Read more about Diavian

New Additions

[player_tooltip player_id='903030' first='Aubrey' last='Johnson']-5-7-Zero Star Basketball-Negaunee

Aubrey played a key role in her team's ascension to the final four during the high school season last winter. Her ability to defend the ball without fouling and cut-off dribble drives with excellent lateral footwork causes challenges for opposing ball handlers. Aubrey is an effective distributor who uses her quickness and combination dribbles to attack downhill and then dish to open teammates. She is physically strong and has an accurate pull-up game off the bounce with the ability to extend her range beyond the arc. Aubrey converts contested drives in the paint and earned all-defensive honors as well as First Team U.P honors following the high school season. Aubrey not only proved she belonged in our rankings; she showed next-level characteristics worthy of a high ranking amongst Michigan point guard prospects.

Read more about Aubrey

[player_tooltip player_id='887998' first='Farida' last='Youssef']-5-5-[program_tooltip program_id='713458' first='1829' last='']-Troy Athens

Farida worked her way into our rankings by demonstrating the offensive skills necessary to be a prospect at the next level. She drives hard through defenders off the dribble and uses a variety of finishing moves to score in traffic. She knocks down outside shots with balance in rhythm and reverses the ball with accurate passes. Farida creates space to drive with her dribble and has the shiftiness needed to produce on the offensive end. Farida earned recognition on our list by demonstrating comprehensive lead guard abilities this spring in travel tournaments and events.

Read more about Farida

[player_tooltip player_id='912427' first='Aiyana' last='Willis']-5-3-Birch Run-Pride 21

Aiyana is a shifty point guard who caught our attention with her ability to use combination dribbles to attack and score downhill, while also applying pressure defensively. Aiyana is a scrappy prospect who will pursue 50/50 balls and work hard to defend the ball. She uses a quick burst on her dribble drives to beat her defender and then has the control to finish at the rim. Aiyanna has the ball-handling tools and athleticism needed to play at the next level and she is a prospect we feel is very deserving of recognition on our list.

Read more about Aiyana
