The featured image was provided by PGH Iowa scout Jeremy Brooks from action Saturday evening.

After a Spring of regional qualifying tournaments along the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit, grassroots teams have arrived at the finals in one of three regions...the Dynasty Region, the Legacy Region, and the Victory Region. I am in attendance this weekend at the Legacy Region Finals, hosted by the Community First Champion Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. Below is a quick look at a few ladies in the 17U division who stood out when I was able to see them during Saturday's action.

.

Ingrid is a well-rounded, versatile guard prospect who does a little of everything well. She has nice length, a wiry strength, and she's a solid athlete in all directions. She showed good court vision and the ability to consistently knock down open jumpers outside. Plus, just when you think she stays outside too long, she looks to turn the corner, attack, and finish through contact or get to the charity stripe. She really does have a nice IQ/feel for the game.

Kylie acted as "Miss Big Shot" in a couple of games today, knocking down a game-tying 3-pointer in one contest, before burying a go-ahead 3-pointer in another. She is a strong, physical forward who can play inside or out. She is comfortable in the mid-post where she can battle for boards, knock down the 15-footer, or attack the basket off the bounce. She can also push the ball up in transition, and as evidenced above, she has the ability to make open perimeter jumpers.

Najawa Arie is absolutely one of the quickest, shiftiest, and most explosive prospects I have seen throughout this Spring. What's even more impressive is, she likes physicality, almost seeks it, especially when attacking defenders. She can get into the paint just about any time she wants, she understands how to play at her height (5-2), but she also showed some touch from the perimeter when left open.

Naveya is a tremendously long, wiry, and fast guard prospect. She gets out in transition in a hurry, and she is explosive off the bounce, especially when breaking down defenders and trying to get to the cup. She has a solid overall feel for the game, she found teammates through small windows, and she was versatile at the defensive end of the floor, showing the ability to defend the ball or affect passing lanes with her length.

Torie is an extremely long, wiry, and fluidly athletic prospect. She glides around the floor almost effortlessly, plus she has the ball skill and touch from beyond the arc to accompany it like a wing. She has a quick release, accuracy, but also understands how to find her rhythm from outside and doesn't force semi-open jumpers. She did a nice job of finding teammates, plus she put the ball on the floor at times and attacked the basket, often drawing contact and earning free throw trips. I also liked her effort and versatility at the defensive end of the floor.

Today was my first opportunity to see Kristina in action, and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay commit is a real talent. She has the frame and can play with the physicality of a power forward, but she is also the athlete and moves around the floor well-enough to be a full-time wing. She took and made some tough perimeter jumpers, she broke her defender down off the bounce, and she facilitated like a point forward in transition and in the half-court. She also sat down and defended wings and bigger guards.

Olivia had a nice early showing Saturday when I was able to see her. She is a strong, low block forward/post who loves physicality and plays with a never-ending motor. Offensively, she gets her seal early and holds her post, she seeks box out contact first and positions herself for easy caroms, and she consistently draws contact on post moves and put-backs. Olivia also showed a nice face-up game in the mid-post area.

Maddie finds herself playing "up" two age groups this weekend, and the youngster played admirably on Saturday afternoon. She is a nice all-around basketball player who utilizes a solid IQ/feel for the game, plus she plays with a nice motor. I really liked her poise/maturity playing against older girls, she was very selfless, often finding open teammates, plus she was able to knock down the open rhythm jumpers she got.
