The Maryland Basketball Coaches Association held its first NCAA Live period event for girls on June 15th at St. John's Catholic Prep and two state champions squared off. 4A champion Clarksburg took on 3A champion Baltimore Poly in one of the most anticipated games of the day. The Lady Engineers of Poly were up for the challenge, and they completely dominated Clarksburg. Here is a look at some of the standout players.

I was very impressed with Destiny even though her team took a loss. She is a very tough and physical player with a college ready body. She's very active on both ends of the floor and her motor never stops. She finished with a 12 point, 10 rebound double double. She did all of her damage in the paint, so I would like to see her improve her range and her handle going forward to push herself to another level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1214847' first='London' last='Turner'], Clarksburg, 2025, Wing

Like her younger sister, London plays with a non-stop motor and tons of energy. She finished the game with 7 points and 9 rebounds. At 5'8" and very strong she is a match up nightmare in the post for guards and wings. She constantly draws contact and gets to the line with her physical play. She needs to improve her handle and her range to reach her full potential, and definitely needs to shoot better from the foul line.

[player_tooltip player_id='791216' first='London' last='Elliott'], Poly, 2027, Point Guard

The rising sophomore guard put on a show and was the most impressive player in the event. She used her blazing speed to get past defenders easily and score at will or drop off assists to her teammates. She showed off her range by knocking down a couple of threes on her way to a game high 26 points. She showed a great feel for the game and really got after it on defense. She jumped out to a great start and never let up.

[player_tooltip player_id='539737' first='Brianna' last='Pope'], Poly, 2025, Power Forward

Brianna contributed her usual double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. What doesn't show up in the box score is the toughness she showed while fighting for every rebound and matching Clarksburg's physicality early on and setting the tone. I like her pushing the ball up the court after rebounds when the guards are not available. She did a good job of establishing position in the post and then finishing.

[player_tooltip player_id='569091' first='Chloe' last='Mills'], Poly, 2026, Point Guard

Chloe set the tone early with her defensive intensity at the point of attack and frustrated Clarksburg into turnovers and rushed possessions. She got her team into their sets the few times they were not fast breaking to the basket. She's turning into the ultimate floor general while showing the ability to knock down big shots when needed.
