Wow! Just wow. That was our immediate reaction after only a few minutes of watching [player_tooltip player_id='923286' first='Ashlee' last='Wilson'] of Hill-Murray in her varsity debut on Sunday at Jefferson High School. The incoming 7th grader – yes, we said 7th grader – was nothing short of stunning. That's why she leads the way today as we look at some newcomers we liked at the Breakdown Summer State Invitational.

[player_tooltip player_id='923286' first='Ashlee' last='Wilson'] – 2030 guard, Hill-Murray

Among a whole host of newcomers that we saw at Summer State, there is no doubt that the biggest standout of the day was Hill-Murray's newest addition. Pictured above right, Ashlee is the younger sister to top-ranked 2027 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='377583' first='Mya' last='Wilson'] (above left), both of whom are spending this AAU season playing for All Iowa Attack. The two sisters made the journey back to the Twin Cities this weekend to lead the way for the Pioneers in the first significant high school event of the summer. It is worth mentioning that while we don't typically write about players in the 6th grade, Wilson's performance, plus the fact that this was her varsity debut, is what has earned Ashlee her first write-up. If Saturday's showing is any indication, we'll be writing many, many more articles over the next six years as Wilson's high school career plays out.

To put it simply, the precocious 12-year-old (she turns 13 in July) is already an elite-level talent on the court, the type of player who will draw immediate recruiting attention from high major college coaches. From her high-energy, pesky defense, to her ability to score at every level, to her incredibly high basketball IQ, it seems that the 5'10 guard can do it all. In addition to an unbelievably advanced skill set, she has a plethora of physical gifts. Wilson is long, moves super well with light feet, can elevate over almost any defender, and is extremely explosive to boot.

Ashlee plays with a fast, aggressive style that is insanely fun to watch, but what is most impressive about Wilson's game is her mind. She sees and understands the game at an incredible level, and demonstrates an understanding of defensive strategy, play making, and more. While so much has yet to unfold for the young prospect, it's already clear that she is going to make for a highly coveted Division 1 recruit.

Now that Ashlee is officially the first of the incoming 7th graders to make it into the Prep Girls Hoops Class of 2030 database, here are three more fresh faces who stood out at the Breakdown, all from Breckenridge in West Central Minnesota.

Sydni Roberts – 2025 guard, Breckenridge

Several members of the Cowgirls squad caught our attention this weekend, the first among them was Roberts, who is an incoming senior. The 2025 guard played a pivotal role for Breckenridge this winter, ending the season with a 30-point performance against Hancock. In Sunday's matchup against Mayer Lutheran, Roberts showed off her defensive skills on the perimeter by picking off passes and fighting for every loose ball. On the offensive end, she demonstrated a willingness to be aggressive and attack the basket, but also showed that she can knock down shots from long range. On both ends of the floor, Sydni is an assertive, vocal leader for her team. The four-sport athlete is expected to play a key leadership role in her senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='921324' first='Emily' last='Gowin'] – 2026 guard, Breckenridge

Next up for the Cowgirls is Gowin, a 2026 guard who is coming off a strong high school season. Gowin stepped up big for Breckenridge in the absence of top 60 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='482833' first='Johnica' last='Bernotas'], who missed most of the season due to a knee injury. This weekend the 5'6 sophomore impressed us with her fundamental basketball abilities and stellar decision-making. On pretty much every possession, Emily played with intelligence, demonstrating wise shot selection and making very few errors. Gowing is a multilevel scorer who can knock down shots from beyond the arc, or blow by defenders and score at the basket. In Sunday's game against Mayer Lutheran, she showed off a pretty finger roll layup on a fast break, after forcing a turnover at the other end of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1090100' first='Ava' last='Jaehning'] – 2029 guard, Breckenridge

Coming off her first varsity season at Breckenridge, Jaehning is our last newcomer from Breakdown Summer State and she's only a 7th grader. When watching the Cowgirls on Sunday, it didn't take long to see that Ava's game is well beyond her years. The 5'5 guard is skilled in multiple areas on the floor and plays with a plenty of confidence. On the defensive end, she's aggressive and uses her quick hands to disrupt passing lanes and force turnovers. Jaehning has light, quick feet that help her to be a solid perimeter defender, despite often giving up a few inches. On both sides of the ball, the to-be 8th grader plays with poise and IQ, making the right decisions possession after possession. We look forward to seeing this young prospect's growth in the coming years.

PGH scout Ally McGinnis contributed to these evaluations.
