The 2026 class ranking update that was just released has swelled to 145 prospects with the addition of 14 players. Following up a look at the top seven are the seven players below. All are new to the rankings except for one. Due to being included previously with the wrong class (hey, it happens) that player is now included as well. Enjoy a look at this group that includes a sprinkling of talents from several classifications.

#71 [player_tooltip player_id='925124' first='Erin' last='Lopez'], 5'5", PG, Field Kinley - The Golden Tornado lost several fairly close games last season but this upcoming season could see some reversal of those outcomes. Lopez guested with [program_tooltip program_id='715510' first='365' last='Hoops Elite'] at the recent '24 MAYB Summer Kickoff and she was impactful. It is not that she has speed (4A state 3rd place 100m) but she has serious speed with the ball in transition. Her ability to change gears, which you just do not see often, is impressive. The Southeast Kansas Conference graduated 10 of the 16 all-league recipients. Expect Lopez to challenge for a second team slot at minimum.

#79 [player_tooltip player_id='896702' first='Sciliesha' last='Shelton'], 5'9", PF, Wichita North - 'Sci' Shelton is emerging power forward who made the Greater Area Wichita League honorable mention list. Blessed with a solid build, hops, good hands and speed and a solid build Shelton is part of a rising Redhawks squad that should surprise some opponents on the way to improving on a three-win 2024 season. A talented rebounder, Shelton is one of the few players I see who tips the ball to where she or a teammate can get it. As her back-to-basket and short to medium range face-up game expands and her free throw shooting improves Shelton will draw interest to play at the next level.

#111 [player_tooltip player_id='905232' first='Harper' last='Whetstine'], 5'8", PG, Troy - Whetstine was part of a Trojans team that was not an easy out in the 1A Division I post-season. State third place finisher, and league rival, Centralia only beat them by three in their sub-state semi-final. Whetstine returns to a 11-10 squad that only had three losses by 10 points or more. A two-time Twin Valley League first teamer she averaged 20.4 points and 5.5 steals per game. The lightly built sees the floor, handles at speed and finishes with athleticism. She is dangerous on the perimeter due to her catch and shoot ability and decision making to take the pull-up jumper from anywhere. Her vision is notable defensively as well. Whetstine has the ability to see plays develop on the strong side and get to the spot first. She also blocks and recovers shots. The TVL is arguably the toughest 1A Division I league in Kansas and Whetstine will have the Trojans in the think of things again. She earned Sports In Kansas second team and KBCA and KSHSAA third team honors following the season.

#120 [player_tooltip player_id='876993' first='Onna' last='Jorge'], 5'5", PG, Pittsburg - Jorge was an important piece of the Dragons backcourt last season that came up short of reaching the 5A state tournament by a game...with a losing record. She is fast, athletic and I like her potential. Playing with a very solid MO Legacy club this summer against and with consistently strong players will make her that much more of a problem in the Southeast Kansas Conference.

#129 [player_tooltip player_id='925165' first='Kingzley' last='Ratzlaff'], 5'9", SG, Hillsboro - Ratzlaff, a Central Kansas League honorable mention selection, could have a breakout year with the graduation of a strong senior class that game 2A state champ The Independent School their best game of the tournament. She is a consistent perimeter threat and a hustler with a nice looking perimeter shot. Defensively she is active jumping passing lanes. I look for her to fill some of the leadership void and her to improve her ability to lead fast breaks.

#132 [player_tooltip player_id='766788' first='Adelynne' last='Strecker'], 5'4", SG/PG, Little River - Strecker had a substantial role with a Redskins team that finished runner-up at the 1A Division I state championship after rolling through the season undefeated. While only averaging 3.5 points per game she is putting in the work this summer with Lady PGUHoops to grow her game. She has solid quickness with quick hands, changes ends quickly and is a well rounded player. She has the potential to emerge as one of the team's backcourt leaders with the graduation of Barton Community College bound Alaina Eck. Strecker was inadvertently included with a different class and is fresh to the 2026 rankings.

#144 [player_tooltip player_id='925247' first='Audrey' last='Bina'], 6'0", C, Northern Valley - Bina is a developing, athletic talent whose athleticism is also on display as a setter and right-side hitter with the volleyball team. That athleticism translates into an ability to play every position for a Huskies team that finished fourth in the 1A Division II state basketball tournament. A Western Kansas Liberty League and KSHSAA honorable mention selection she averaged 8.4 points and 10.4 rebounds in 2024. She added 3.4 blocked shots, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals as well. My colleague Jeremy Deckard says "Bina has a sweet jump shot and can shoot from the baseline or in the paint." She is quickly emerging as one of the top bigs in the classification.
