SS16 Shootout: 2025s Stepping Up Pt 1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Saturday, June 8th kicked off summer Varsity season with a bang as many talented teams competed at Belleville High School for a full day of basketball. Prospects have been competing on the travel circuit all spring and today gave us a glimpse into how the high school scene will look this winter. She consistently beat defenders off the drive with a combination of attack dribbles. Colleena also dished out assists with long passes in transition and on her drives to the basket. She finished contested layups, hit jumpers off the bounce, and made a sweet left-handed jump pass over a defender for an assist on her drive. Imani used inside-out and push-out dribbles to create space for pull-up jumpers off the bounce, while also driving hard and finishing at the rim. Imani dished out assists in transition and on her drives. She scored a right scoop layup full-speed and defended forwards/guards effectively without fouling. She showed her ability to run the offense as a lead guard and utilized a spin dribble effectively on multiple drives to score at the rim. She kept her eyes up on a drive to the paint and then dished an assist. She created space with a combination of jabs, crossovers, and step back dribbles to produce offense against an athletic opponent. Maddy has a burst on her drives and scored a contested shot from a tough angle off the glass. Zoe was a relentless rebounder and her ability to read shots off the rim and outwork the opposing team created extra scoring opportunities. She guarded the opposing teams best player and moved with balance laterally to cause contested shots. Zoe has a high motor, energizes her teammates, and scored in the paint.
