Seeing all different levels of competition this weekend was refreshing to end the 2024 AAU Summer Season. In this article I highlight my personal Top Five prospects, in no particular order, from the 17U level on the EYBL Circuit. These five players are all individuals that showed out in major ways these past couple of days, helping their teams win a lot of contests by the time that everything came to a close in Chicago.

Jaci Austin was pound-for-pound, the best prospect I saw competing this weekend as a whole. Austin is a 5'7 PG, with an elite shooting ability, as well as being able to pass at a high efficiency. Every game she competed in over the weekend, she made her mark on the offensive end in several different ways while being a solid defender against some pretty elite competition. Not to mention, her athletic ability for her size is eye-opening. When she attacks the rim for a rebound, she gets UP. I mean, up up. As in up above most post players. Austin is going to compete with Alabama for her collegiate career and I can't wait to see it because she is going to be a killer.

Aaliyah Crump of [program_tooltip program_id='712377' first='All' last='Iowa Attack'] 17U EYBL demonstrated this weekend that she is one of the best offensive producers in the gym. Crump comes in at 6'1, she has quick feet and fast hands, her shooting ability from anywhere in every situation is pristine, and she is extremely reliable whenever her team needs a bucket. Defensively, she can switch onto quicker guards and stay in front with her lengthy reach or she can wall up against bigger opponents near the paint. It's really whatever her coach is asking of her in that moment. Crump will be at Texas to kick off her college career and I'm sure she is going to love it. She is going in come in and play right away, helping the Longhorns however she can in front of the nation but as for this weekend specifically, she was one of the best I saw, hands-down.

A prospect with one of the best mixtures of size, skill, and natural athletic ability is Nyla Brooks of Boo Williams 17U EYBL. Williams is a someone standing at 6'2, she has a nasty fadeaway from all over the court, and she stays aggressive no matter the situation. She understands on her Boo Williams team, she is a top producer so as soon as it hits her hands, the defense better be ready or else it's going to be a bucket for her or someone else on her team in some facet with the way she can also pass the ball. Brooks is currently the #14th recruit out of the 2025 Class and she competed like it this weekend in front of hundreds of collegiate coaches.

When I saw Jordan Speiser compete last year at this event, it was evident that she could shoot the leather off of the basketball and that certainly hasn't changed up until this point. Speiser put up a clinic this weekend on the offensive end of the floor with her shooting ability and finishing ability at the hoop. In one contest she had 40 points on 10-14 shooting from three point land, while helping her team stage a 14 point comeback and that is just one example of what she can really do. Speiser is the #20th ranked prospect in the country by ESPNW and she has played like it all AAU season. I'm not sure where she will end up when her college career comes about but whoever is getting her, is getting someone who could change a program in a lot of positive ways at the next level.

When I watch Jaliya Davis play, I just laugh because she is so tough and almost impossible to guard for anyone at the high school level right now. Davis stand at 6'2 with muscle mass and agile movement to pair along with it. She is a cleaner on the boards with her ability to position herself for rebounds, while having great touch on the ball on either side of the hoop as she attacks the rim. This is another top rated recruit in the country out of the 2025 Class so it comes to no surprise that she killed it this weekend and made every game her own. She will have one more season on the high school court and then she will take her ability to the next level to compete somewhere that I'm sure is highly regarded in the Women's College Basketball world.
