Battle in The Sunflower Sunday 17u Top Performers

I enjoyed watching many of the players for the first time this past weekend in Kansas. Ten players on Sunday stood out as the Top Performers in the 17U this past weekend at Battle in the The Sunflower event. My counter part Robert knows these young players and I am guessing maybe even already covered them. I enjoyed covering the 17u group and seeing some new young talent I look forward to now following their high school careers. Good luck rest of summer    Quinacy is a shooting guard that can play the 1-2 spot as she has great handles in the full court as well in the half court. Now do not get me wrong this young lady can shoot the 3 from anywhere on the court and get hot in a hurry. I watched her play 2 games this weekend. First game she just went off from the 3 point line knocking down several in a row changing the game. Second game I saw her play point guard with control and patience.   Moves well off the ball always finding the gaps in the defense ready for the kick out to shoot. Impressive was the control she had against pressure when playing the point. Never seemed to get rattled or commit a turnover. Used a very affective through the legs move and a retreat dribble to get out of tough situations. In full court just worked her way through the gaps of the press getting up the court.   Enjoyed watching the way she played. A up tempo guard that shoot lights out but also play in the half court game as well. A 2026 playing up     Yeva is a long 6'2 forward that can play the 3-5 position on the court if needed. Runs the floor very well on breaks filling the lanes with hands ready for the pass. Nice face up jump shot from about 15 feet out I did not see any outside shots but the shot looked smooth and not pushed so sure she has the range. In position on the backside of offensive rebounds to put back any missed shots. Against the zone great passer out of the high post area. Again showing that shot from 15 feet out.   On defense great rotation on help side using her length to block several shots. Moved well on defense allowing her to switch screens at times. First time seeing her play and seeing some good things has me following her the rest of summer and this up coming school season     This is the second week having the opportunity watch Macayla play and again for the second week in a row I walked away impressed. A very complete player that possess all the skills to play about any position of the floor. A game changer for team Sunday as they made a big run Sunday in their game.   A big time skill set that can handle the ball, shoot the outside shot, and physically attack the rim. Macayla had a good performance Sunday showing why she is such a highly ranked player. Nothing changed on evaluation on Sunday showing that her game is very consistent,.   <ul> <li><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2024/07/impact-players-i-35-showcase-kansas/">Impact Players Article </a></li> </ul>     A very quick point guard that is lighting fast in transition. Great vision in the open floor looking for team mates running the court. Like the fact that she quickly pushed the tempo but did not force the issue. A very nice catch and read type shooter meaning she caught the ball then square up reading the defense. Several times the defense was flat and she just quickly rose up knocking down the 3.   On defense she is tough on the ball applying pressure. Quick lateral movement allowed her to apply the pressure without getting beat 20 plus feet out. Great communicator on defense calling out all switches and jumping those switches to protect any down hill drives. Lastly a PG that likes to get defensive rebounds meaning forget the outlet let get out and run!     A combo guard that is extremally athletic on the offense and defensive end of the floor. The type of player that made plays at times that you going wow okay! Thrives at driving to the basketball finishing with a physical drive creating contact for a AND 1 or pulling up for a one hand floater. A very quick ball handler in the open floor waiting for the lane to develop to attack the basket.   On defense a hard nose player that jumped the passing lanes for a deflection or steal. Great hops on the boards allowed her to hang with the post when getting rebounds.   The profile that popped up was this one cause I showed her as a 2025. Either way this young lady should be on someone watch list.     If looking for a forward that can run, move without the ball and guard the biggest kid on the other team then [player_tooltip player_id='865999' first='Abbey' last='Green'] is your forward. Moved well without the ball keeping good spacing for a what seemed to be a dribble drive offense. Showed a good mid range jumper on the kick out. Good job at cutting through the center of the defense showing hands ready for the catch and finish.   Abbey stood out on defense as she guarded some of the best center and forwards in the state this past weekend. Great quickness and vision allowed her to slide around the post for deflections and steals. A player that works hard and smart. She did not commit a lot of fouls when defending the post. Abbey play was a key to her team's great weekend of ball     Sometimes when you see a player for the first time and walk away impress you want to see it again. The second week in a row I have had the opportunity to watch Lydia play and yes she can GO! Long piost player that can turn over either shoulder with a baby hook or turn around jumper. The face up game makes her such an impressive center. She can post up low or play high post and knock down the jump shot.   Moved well without the ball in man defense being able to defend 20 feet out. Excellent shot blocker that knows how to avoid contact on the block. As I said very consistent player every game I have watched. Nice mid range game facing the basket able to knock down the jumper. On her drive very long strides and long reach allows to score without getting block. Moves well without the ball scoring on back door cuts. A player that seemed to always be around the rim on offensive rebounds. Good hops on the board keeping the ball high on the put back.   Good lateral and length when defending outside the paint. Inside the paint she is a shot blocker. Meagan had a good run with her team mates in a second half run in Sunday's game     Listed as a power forward but played very comfortable at the 3 spot. A forward that showed a nice outside shot from 3 as she caught fire several games Sunday. Nice ball handles as she brought the ball down several times in the offense. The deep range 3 ball she can shoot pulled out the man to man defender opening up driving lanes for her team mates. Showed a very nice quick shot off the dribble as she wait for her man to sit down on defense.   Defensively she was the only post her team had and she did a great job in holding down the paint. Used her length to play a half front making it hard for the entry pass to get inside. Nice rebounder that needed not outlet as she can start the break herself. A 2026 player that might be going under the radar in Oklahoma     A very solid forward that a great job on both ends of the floor. Hadley has great size for the forward spot. At 6'0 and strong she able to bang down load working for post position. The footwork is very nice as you can tell she is doing the work before the ball is passed. Excellent job at creating passing angles for the guards to feed the ball to her. Good hands always looking for the ball on the back side with the catch and finish off the glass.   On defense used the strength to keep low center of gravity moving out the taller post players. Seemed to some how get a deflection on entry passes to the post. One thing that stood out was she never gave up on a rebound meaning she found a way to keep the rebound alive. It was nice watching her compete inside for the ball.
