It's important for incoming high school players to understand that making varsity isn't the ultimate goal. Sometimes, playing on varsity without significant minutes can hinder your development. Take full advantage of playing at a lower level to focus on improving your skills and building confidence. Her patience consistently stands out to me on both sides of the ball. Defensively, she has quick hands and great awareness around the rim, maintaining high hands and solid footwork. Ignore the size and focus on how she uses her feet and handles to get where she needs to go. She's one of the toughest players I've seen lace up this summer. Williams is one of those fast-paced guards that has a mean first step to go with it. She seems to use her ball-handling ability to get others open, which is a rarity nowadays. She does possess all the abilities to score from the paint to the three-point range, but I bet if asked, she would rather facilitate than score. Strong IQ for such a young player. Her length is particularly evident on the defensive side of the ball, though her offensive skills are also apparent. Defensively, she shuffles well and recovers quickly. She uses her length to defend the paint and can jump out to the perimeter, making life difficult for opposing guards.
