Williams is one of the fastest guards in this class, if not the fastest, with and without the ball. Her speed is a key reason why colleges won’t allow the size to scare them away, and when you see how aggressive she is as a scorer, you can understand why. ON the defensive end, there’s no letup on the aggression, and she can score 4-8 points just by pressuring the ball. A definite all-state type of talent, and a main reason HF is one of the best teams in the state.

As an athletic, high energy, top speed guard, there aren’t many players who can stay in front of Laila. She’s not a one directional speed athlete either. Whether it’s attacking angles at full speed or stopping on a dime and quickly taking off again, she’s constantly putting defenders in difficult positions. Her speed is what you notice first, then you begin to see her ability as a playmaking scorer. Super talented.

As a guard, there aren’t many other prospects in the 2028 class that put pressure on defenders the way Williams does. The speed, quick twitch ability, and fearlessness allow her to take control of a game from the inside out. She can truly get to the rim when she wants, and when she does, it’s usually a bucket. Even when the contact is there, she knows how to adjust and finish around or over the top. The playmaking has started to take form as well, and there were multiple moments throughout the weekend where you could see that part of her game beginning to click. A strong upside.

Laila has an argument for being one of the best guards in the 16U division from this past weekend. The speed, the ability to shift and hit angles without slowing down, and still have enough energy to finish at the rim through contact was something to watch. The feel of knowing when to change from playmaker to scorer is present, and she did a great job of showing that. The size might steer some schools away, but even with more skill to add, she is well beyond her age. There is a solid amount of maturity in her game, and the way she controls pace makes her even more intriguing going forward.

Williams has been a name to know in this class, and even after a strong high school season, she has not slowed down. She is one of the more aggressive and high energy guards out there. The handle is solid, not overly crafty, but that is because her decisions are made quickly. She can score around the rim, score over length, and knock down shots as well.

AAU TEAM – FULL PACKAGE

Laila has light feet and must have a defender with serious energy to keep up with her speed! Grab some popcorn, sit back and enjoy because you never know what moves she’s going to make! Solid handles!

Williams has had a major leap in her skill over the past year, and with a D1 offer under her belt, it’s been confirmed that she is a tough matchup on any given night. Versatile, adaptable, and confident. Having those qualities at this age usually points in the right direction as far as upside goes. She can lock down and cause havoc for the best guards, as well as keep up and or outscore the best of them.

Williams still impressed in her team’s loss; she is a quick and crafty guard who knows how to attack angles. A solid floor general who can facilitate and get to the cup to distribute, hit the floater or baby jumper. Another prospect with tremendous upside.

Williams plays this game with absolute confidence, and offensively, she can get it going from almost anywhere on the court. She has a sharp handle, twitchy moves, and she’s always looking to attack downhill, not dribbling east to west. On the defensive side of the ball, she’s aware, pesky, and can hold her own with high-intensity guards. HF will be competitive again this year, and Williams will be one of the main focal points for pulling in those wins.

HF has had some extreme talent throughout its years, and Laila has the skillset to be one of those. She is the last person you want to have to guard for 4 quarters, and it’s simply because she has no off button. Her speed, aggression, and no-quit attitude are some of the main things that will result in a lot of wins this season.
