Mitten Summer Showdown: 26 and 27 Shout Outs

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The LBI Mitten Summer Showdown included top Michigan travel teams from all high school classes on Sunday, July 7th. Prior to coaching my 2025 team at the tournament, I had the opportunity to evaluate many prospects during the morning/early afternoon sessions. She used her length to defend effectively in the paint and finished with strength around the basket. Anna scored many times off two feet in the paint, knocked down a free throw, and caused a steal. Alyssa drilled a smooth 3-pointer off the dribble up top, buried both her free throws with a confident follow-through and demonstrated solid handles under pressure. She pushed the ball quickly off a defensive rebound to create a transition assist. She drilled a corner jumper off the catch, finished off two in the paint, knocked down a free throw, and used a low crossover to beat pressure. Gracyn used an effective low-rip move to score a contested floater off two, hit clutch baskets, made great seals in the low post, and ripped the ball out of her opponent's hands. She elevated high up to grab offensive rebounds in the paint and finished a layup off two. Gigi drove hard through the teeth of the defense to score off two and split defenders to convert a left layup.
