Spooky Good 2028s at Select Super Showcase

S40 Events hosted some of the best travel programs in the country at Spooky Nook in Hamilton, Ohio from July 11-13th. Teams from the S40 and P24 circuits competing with college coaches in the gym at an awesome facility created an exciting environment for basketball! Here are a few of the 2027 prospects who caught my attention on the court.

Mayrese showed no signs of struggle while competing up with MDP-2027-Vieau and ended the Select Super Showcase with an exclamation point performance. She created space with jabs and combo moves to beat defenders and score contested layups at the rim. Mayrese dished wrap-around assists baseline and lined the ball up the court in transition. She was locked in from the perimeter, ripping the net with multiple 3s off the bounce, and converted her free throws.

Addison pulled double duty this week, playing with her 2028 Power team and competing with the MDP-2026-P24 squad. Addison crashed the boards for offensive rebounds, scored with a drop step move off two inside, and finished effectively with both hands in the paint. Addison distributed the ball well and created offense for teammates, while stealing the ball away on defense. Nobody watching the 2026 games would have guessed that Addy was playing up two grades at the Select Super Showcase.

[player_tooltip player_id='939083' first='Kendall' last='Bires'] is a dynamic wing/forward prospect who contributed on both ends of the court and fit right in playing up with MDP-2026-P24 at the Select Super Showcase. She scored off two in the low post and made an emphatic block in the paint on defense. Kendall chased down offensive rebounds and was relentless on the boards. She is a strong player with a high motor who I am excited to see step into an immediate role at the Varsity level.

[player_tooltip player_id='945453' first='Grace' last='Shubert'] showed great determination, resiliency, and toughness during challenging matchups at the Select Super Showcase for MDP-Willis. She battled in the paint to earn positioning for rebounds and scored putbacks off two in the paint. Grace used a crossover then drove downhill to score a layup and used good footwork to draw a foul and knocked down a free throw. Avery outraced defenders off a defensive rebound to score a full-speed scoop layup at the rim and made a great read to back cut for quick catch and finish at the rim. One of her best plays happened when she used a shifty spin dribble to beat her defender baseline off the bounce to score a floater.

At the Buzzer

Evan Bell is currently a scout for Prep Girls Hoops and Director of [program_tooltip program_id='923712' first='Prepare' last='2 Win Basketball'] .
