About Mayrese
Expert Analysis
Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Mayrese was named Cascades Conference Co-MVP and received recognition as a PGH Player of the Year Finalist for the second straight year. Mayrese led Michigan Center in scoring at 12 points per game (Double figures in 15 of 21 games). She also led the Cardinals in 2 PT FG% at 47%. Mayrese finished second in rebounds (4.3), assists (3), and steals (2.3) per game. Her task every game is to defend the opposing team’s top guard and her on-ball defense is a staple to her game. She moves quickly laterally, keeps her hands active, and empties the tank to keep the ball in front of her. Mayrese is a crafty point guard who can finish in traffic, drop in floaters over lanky defenders, and bury threes from well beyond the arc. She holds a D2 offer from Davenport University.

Mayrese earned a Cascades Conference MVP selection this season, and she certainly showed why at Spring Arbor on Saturday night. Mayrese caught a pass in the slot, pivoted, kept her balance, and drained a smooth three-pointer, then launched a moonshot from the wing that found the bottom of the net. Mayrese hounded the ball on the perimeter, leading to a five-second call. She jumped into the passing lane to snag a steal and took it all the way for two points. Mayrese drained another triple off a BLOB, hit a jumper up top, crashed the glass, made a great entry pass for an assist inside, and dropped in a drive-by floater with her left. Mayrese led the Cardinals to victory with 17 points, nine assists, six rebounds, and four steals.

Mayrese performs at her best on the brightest stage. She turned in an impressive First Team All-Showcase performance at the PGH Expo and followed that with a great day at Wade’s Showcase. She has an endless battery on the court. Mayrese distributes the rock, is disruptive on defense, attacks gaps with a burst, and punishes opponents who leave her open beyond the arc. She picked up her first D2 offer in November from Davenport and is off to a fantastic start for Michigan Center.

Mayrese made her biggest mark on the defensive end at the PGH Expo, where she was selected to my all-defensive team. From start to finish, she applied suffocating ball pressure, using her quick feet and relentless motor to keep opposing guards uncomfortable and off balance. She read passing lanes with precision, turning her anticipation into several clean steals that quickly shifted momentum for her team. What stood out most was her discipline—she pressured the ball without overcommitting, cut off driving angles, and forced opponents into tough decisions. Her ability to disrupt plays before they developed and her constant energy as an on-ball stopper made her one of the premier defenders in the gym.

Mayrese delivered one of the most complete performances at the PGH Expo, earning recognition as a First Team selection for Team 2. Her shiftiness and burst with the ball made her a constant headache for defenders, as she repeatedly got into the lane to finish or draw help before kicking it out to open teammates. She mixed in a confident outside shot, hitting multiple threes, and complemented it with a smooth, controlled mid-range jumper that kept her scoring arsenal unpredictable. Beyond her offense, Mayrese set the tone on defense with her energy and instincts. She hounded opposing guards with relentless on-ball pressure, and her anticipation in the passing lanes—especially on inbound plays—led to a string of steals that flipped momentum in her team’s favor. With her motor, sharp decision-making, and high-level feel for the game, she proved to be one of the most dangerous and impactful players in the gym.
