We have enjoyed a continuous carousel of non-stop basketball activity seemingly since the winter season concluded. Grassroots session one, session two, Summer team camps/shootouts, and college elite camps. The steady flow of activity has decreased with a few elite camps leading up to our Freshman Showcase on August 25th. This gap of inactivity provides the perfect opportunity to shine a light on prospects who have not received attention on the travel circuit or at team camps. Inspired by Brandon Bradly, Head Scout of our PGH Indiana brand, I have decided to undertake an article series that will become an annual tradition each fall leading up to the winter high school season. The series will be known as “Michigan Counties Hiding Prospects”.

In this series, I become a bounty hunter seeking the ultimate “Reward” of finding new prospects who have been “hidden” in each county of Michigan. Prospects will only be included in this series if they are currently UNRANKED and excluded from our Watch List. Our mission as scouts is to find new prospects who have the potential and ability to play basketball at any college level. This series will emphasize the girls across every county in Michigan who are good high school players with potential for more. We believe that there is always another basketball prospect waiting to be found. During this series, I will be using notes from in-person evaluations and game film online to find girls from each county.

The first county on our journey was Monroe and now we are headed southwest down Highway 223 into Lenawee County. Lenawee is home to Adrian College (D3) and Siena Heights University (NAIA). There are many golf courses located across the county to break in that new driver! If you enjoy the sound of roaring engines and the smell of burning rubber, head over to the Michigan International Speedway! 2024 Blissfield PG Avery Collins, is committed to Concordia (NAIA), and will be competing with the Cardinals this winter. After turning over rocks and following trails throughout the county's school districts, I have discovered four hidden prospects who we will shine a light on during our stay in Lenawee County. Let's take a look at the prospects who have remained hidden in Lenawee County until now.

Ella Salenbien-2026-PF-Adrian

Ella is a robust stretch forward with athletic abilities for Adrian. She can face up in the high post and use a high rip to beat defenders off the dribble, then elevate to score contested layups. Ella competes with a high motor and is a double-double machine converting shots inside and securing rebounds. She plays with passion and aggressively pivots with the ball on rebounds. Ella chases down loose balls, creates steals, and blocks shots to help her team compete. Ells earned All-SEC First Team honors last season and I am eager to see her compete more this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='959912' first='Peyton' last='Tennant']-2026-5-10-PF-Blissfield

Peyton is a broad-shouldered hard-working forward for the Royals who jumped out at the Michigan Hardwood Classic last winter. She put up a monster total of 14 rebounds and scored putbacks around the rim. Peyton flies in for offensive rebounds, continuously works for inside position, and seals with a strong base in the low post. Peyton is a double-double threat every game and she has a hard-nosed style I can't wait to see again this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='927952' first='Kayla' last='Gerken']-2027-5-7-SF-Onsted-[program_tooltip program_id='714458' first='Michigan' last='Cobras']

Kayla is a robust athlete with solid potential, showing signs of promise as a freshman last season. She showed her speed and competitiveness to chase down a breakaway layup from behind in transition. Kayla pushes the ball with pace and fires passes up to her teammates. She attacks hard off the dribble through contact and will hit open 3s. Kayla will be a fun player to watch more of this winter season and I can't wait to see her continue to progress.

[player_tooltip player_id='1134584' first='Alyssa' last='Gibbs']-2025-5-9-PF-Morenci

Alyssa is a physical forward who is an asset for Morenci in the paint. She moves well without the ball, setting screens to help teammates get open for scoring looks in the offense. Alyssa finishes contested shots in the low post off two, battles for offensive boards, and blocks shots with quick closeouts. She sees the ball in help on defense and communicates with teammates. Alyssa received Athlete of the Week honors and First Team All-TCC Honors last season. Alyssa is a player I look forward to seeing more of this winter.
