Mariam Fakhoury (Utica Eisenhower) - Fakhoury and her defense stood out on Saturday. She was able to stay engaged with her assignment throughout the possession and even defended from behind with a blocked shot over the shoulder.

Bires was a force on defense at the Freshman Showcase. She was a physical defender near the block. Bires wasn't just comfortable with contact, but I think she actually played better through it.

Honeycutt has the chance to be a top notch wing defender. She sees the defensive possession throughout which allows her to anticipate the action. I saw at least 2 steals that came from her reading her assignment.

Adams was a tremendous influence in the paint in all aspects of her game. This most definitely included her post defense. Offensive players had to be constantly aware of what they dribble driving into, as Adams had the look of a top notch rim protector.

[player_tooltip player_id='979580' first='Audrey' last='McCarley'] (Chelsea) - Chelsea seems to be a nice place to find girls basketball talent and it looks like McCarley is continuing that trend. I really liked her perimeter defense. Nothing flashy, just a solid core and consistent stops.

Young showed out at the Freshman Showcase and defense was a big reason why. She has the chance to be an elite post defender. She has soft feet and moves well across the lane. Nothing comes free when Young is defending the rim.
