Danyle Bowers | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Lucy, a post player for West Michigan Drive , continues to impress even while competing up in the 17U division, holding her own and more against older competition. She displays polished footwork in the paint, along with soft hands and a smooth touch that allow her to finish efficiently around the basket. Lucy can also step out and knock down shots from the perimeter, adding another dimension to her game. Defensively, she protects the rim well and moves fluidly for her size, making her a presence on both ends of the floor. She put together a dominant showing at the Grassroots Spring Opener, proving she’s a name to keep an eye on this spring and summer.

Lucy won Player of the Week and set the Hacket Catholic Prep single-game scoring record earlier this month with 44 points. Her long frame, mobility, shot-blocking, persistent rebounding, perimeter accuracy, skilled footwork, ability to score off the dribble, and finishing touch around the basket gives the Irish an advantage at forward against any team in the tournament. Lucy will be an elite D1 prospect to watch in District 77.

Lucy made an immediate impact as a freshman last season, earning First Team All-State honors and proving she’s already among the elite in Division 3. The 6-foot-2 standout showcased her all-around game by averaging 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.7 steals per contest, while breaking Hackett’s single-game scoring record with a 41-point performance. Remarkably consistent, she hit double figures in every one of her 24 games and scored 20 or more in 14 of them, helping her team set new school marks for most consecutive wins (16) and most victories in a season (20). With multiple Division I offers already in hand—and plenty more sure to come—Lucy is poised for another dominant season as she looks to lead Hackett to a district title and a deep postseason run, firmly placing herself in the mix for Division 3 Player of the Year honors.

Lucy is Michigan’s top forward prospect in the 2028 class, and she provided plenty of material to support that ranking at the Cagers Invitational. She averaged 16.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.1 steals, two blocks, and shot 62% from the field as the team finished 5-0. Lucy faced athletic 6-foot defenders in her final game and elevated her play to meet the challenge. Lucy used a jab to freeze her defender on the perimeter, accelerated with her dribble, then scored an acrobatic high-pick-up eurostep layup through contact. She showed her perimeter shooting range, stepping out to drain a straightaway triple. Lucy swiped the ball away on defense, raced up the left sideline, and crossed in front of her defender to score with her right hand, preventing the possibility of a block. She scored another nifty eurostep layup off the glass using long strides and was a menace on the defensive end. Lucy walled up to contest shots, blocked many, and used her long arms to disrupt passing lanes. Lucy used effective pivots to score inside and was an offensive rebound put-back machine. The PGH Freshman Showcase, high school, and travel games have provided enough evidence to support that Lucy has the measurables and fundamental development to be evaluated for a potential offer by every LM to MM D1 and D2 in Michigan.

Lucy was the best forward at our Freshman Showcase, winning All-Expo honors and Most Valuable Prospect. As a freshman, she confirmed her reputation as the top forward in this class, having the most dominant statistical season in team history. Her impact also led Hackett Catholic Prep to their most successful regular season in team history. The Irish won a school-record 19 regular-season games with a school-record 16-game winning streak. Against their three toughest opponents, Lucy was at her best. H.C.P. defeated Kalamazoo Christian for the first time since 2021 as Lucy erupted for a single-game school record 41 points to go with 15 rebounds. She was dominant against Onekama with 31 points and 11 rebounds in the win. In two wins vs. Lawton, Lucy scored 18 points with 15 rebounds and 24 points with eight rebounds. She added another huge statistical performance with 35 points, 15 rebounds, and five steals in a win vs. South Haven. She set a single-season scoring record with 489 points in 22 games and surpassed 500 points with 21 points, eight steals, five rebounds, and two assists in Districts. Lucy scored double digits every game, with at least twelve games scoring 20 points and nine double-doubles. In 27 minutes (3 quarters played in 5 games), Lucy averaged 22.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 4.5 steals per game. She shot 47.9% from the field, 51.5% 2PT% and 26.8% 3PT%. Lucy has a combination of height and skills that create an advantage on both ends of the court. She dominated at our Freshman Showcase, earning All-Showcase honors and my vote for Most Valuable Prospect. Lucy passes well out of the high post, attacks defenders off the dribble, finishes effectively around the basket, and protects the rim. She will be an exciting prospect to watch at Hackett Catholic Prep this winter and has earned her place as the top-ranked forward in the class.
