PGH Showcase Freshman Standouts

She used her handle to get by defenders and had some nice finishes at the rim. When Mila missed shots at the rim, she consistently got her own miss and put it back up. She used her size to seal off defenders to get position in the post and finish. She hauled in a handful of offensive rebounds and opposing players had no answer for her. Ella played like a true point guard the whole evening. Her passing was fantastic and she found her [player_tooltip player_id='912142' first='Amirah' last='Royal'] a handful of times in the paint. She had some nice drives and was one of the better guards on the day. Ella has a high IQ and it was the first thing I noticed during the 5 on 5s. She also had a handful of tough finishes through contact. She often blew by defenders with her lightning-fast first step and handle. Angel was playing a lot of PG, which was fun to see. She knocked down a few jumpers, including a three that she got fouled on. She had a lot of crafty finishes and pushed the ball well off of missed shots. Many of Jozi's finishes were from tough angles and she used her length to finish over defenders. Jozi knocked down a couple of threes as well. Her perimeter defense was good and she forced turnovers with her quick hands. Trinity has a great handle and had some drives. She is a good passer and a knock down shooter, even though she didnt hit many in the 5v5s. Not only did she knock down a couple of threes during the 5v5s, she looked great shooting during the shooting drills. But what you saw from her was her ball handling and passing. To me, she was the best passer on the day, especially hitting cutters or players near the basket when she drove. Josiah can shoot the ball as well but they didn't fall for her today. Natalee left a few points that she should had because she missed a few easy ones at the rim. She was still extremely impactful on the day blocking a few shots and altering a lot more. She was a force on the offensive glass and you felt her presence.
