Like the past few days, we're looking at another team from the 5v5 portion of the PGH Freshman Showcase. Today, we're moving on to Team Four, and everyone I had notes on from that team last Sunday.

[player_tooltip player_id='917718' first='Vonna' last='Shill']

The first thing that stood out about Shill was the athleticism. She's not the tallest guard, but she may have been the most explosive athlete in the gym by a wide margin. Her energy level was high from start to finish, and her competitiveness was fun to watch. I loved her ability to get downhill and beat defenders off the dribble. That skill alone is something she can build the rest of her game from. Kids will sag off her in high school games, but if she can keep them honest in any way, she'll be a handful to try and contain off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id='992495' first='Gabriella' last='Pritchard']

The Franklin Saber did an excellent job of keeping things simple and making the play that defenses gave her. In situations when players didn't stop the ball around the basket, she'd take a floater. In pick-and-roll actions, when the defender didn't get around the pick, Pritchard would shoot from behind the three-point line. I thought Pritchard took what defenses gave her and didn't try to make things more complex than they needed to be. She was effective because she read the game. Her basketball IQ will help her at the varsity level this season for the Sabers.

[player_tooltip player_id='917003' first='Yana-Aaliyah' last='Stevens']

I've loved Stevens' game since I first saw her play, but she has all the tools to be a prominent figure in the Big Eight over the next four years. The 5'10 wing will be the premier defender for Janesville Craig and one of the more complete offensive pieces in the conference. She's able to score at all three levels, and I didn't see much of that this past summer, but she was more than comfortable stepping out and knocking down shots and putting pressure on the rim. Plenty can happen over four years, but I expect the Janesville native will be one of the more talked about names in her class.

[player_tooltip player_id='993702' first='Blake' last='Jeske']

The Boyceville product used her motor to make plays on the defensive end of the floor. Jeske was an excellent complimentary piece to her teammates and made herself available to get a pass when her teammates were under pressure. There was plenty of individual talent on this team, and Jeske was a connector for all the talent here by making extra-effort plays and understanding what her team needed from her to be the best unit they could be. I suspect there's more to her game she didn't get to show, but she has a solid basketball IQ.
