Back in 1974- 1979 (Way before my time and if you are in high school right now, definitely before your time for sure) there was a television show called Good Times. The show took serious topics and provided a comedic way for viewers to identify with. One of the cast members, Jimmie Walker, played the character of JJ Evans, and one of his famous lines was “Dy-No-Mite!”

The class of 2025 are gearing up for their last hoo-rah. This class from top to bottom, has grown tremendously, leaving a legacy and solid foundational platform for others to follow in their footsteps. Not only did this class do it for student-athletes at their school, but for others in the state to follow as well. By no means am I saying that these girls are trailblazers, as women who have come before them have done tremendous things before them. What I am saying is this, this class will etch their names within the basketball books in many ways. We will have many kids that will go on to play at the next level. We will have many kids who will break records. We will have many kids who will be the leading catalyst for their ball clubs to bring home the title this year. So many kids will be more than seniors, but stewarts of the game that will bring leadership for the next generation of young ladies who are behind them.

So why do I use the term Dy-No-Mite when describing this class? For one, they are fantastic. Girls who have rolled up their sleeves and performed for four years on these hallowed courts around the state. We have some dynamic ballplayers who have led by example of what it takes to play at the next level. This class has kids who have handled adversity and self doubt to propel themselves in an era that has ever changing rules, regulations, ect. Think transfer portal and NIL,the effects that these kids have dealt with, even with COVID-19 not that far in the rearview mirror. That's just for starters.

Secondly, I would say that throughout the state, we have young ladies who have took the necessary steps at perfecting this basketball craft and used it as a platform to gain an opportunity for higher education. At the end of the day, if they dreamt of playing at the next level, a lot of kids are achieving this opportunity. The old saying “ if you can believe it, you can achieve it,” rings true in the fact that if you are putting in the work and doing the necessary things to enhance your game, your opportunity will or is coming. You just have to stay the course. The 2025 class has done that and so much more.

I could go on and on and talk about the girls who have performed and have risen above. I could list multiple names tenfold (I am just going to keep it to 5 though) of the young ladies who are doing their thing. The 6 chosen aren't the only ones, but just a few that have come to mind. 2025, a Dy-No-Mite class who are doing the thing. They are leading by example and upholding the standard that was taught to them.

Check out a few girls who are doing that plus more from the class of 2025.

One of the most talented sharpshooters in the state, will be taking her talents to Quinnipiac next school season. Ella is one of the most confident ball players I have seen in her ability to shoot the rock from multiple spots on the floor. I'm not talking about multiple levels, multiple spots where she can spot up, come off the dribble, and be consistent from that spot time and time again. A heady ball player who not only is a fearless leader, but leads by example for her younger teammates. She is a gym rat who works on her craft, getting shots up daily and training to find creative scoring opportunities. She's a two-way player who is breaking records at BHS. She is going to go on as one of the best that has come through WilCo. Look for her to finish her senior year strong and continue to put up amazing statistics along the way.

Only time will tell when this young lady will announce where she is going and in what sport. She stars in volleyball too, an athletic versatile kid who can do any and all things. Sticking with the basketball theme, this kid is a multi-level scoring threat who can utilize her frame to exploit the weakness of an opponent. Can do it inside or out, either way she's going to put the ball in the hole. Has had opportunities to showcase her skills at Team USA camps and various big time camps and tournaments. Whoever wins the opportunity to obtain her signature will be getting a steal. A fantastic kid who has tremendous upside.

One of the most undervalued kids in the state, yes she is ranked high on our recruiting boards, but I personally feel like she is overlooked. This kid is one of the most two-way kids in the 2025 class. A kid who stars on the defensive end and is one of the most consistent threats on the offensive end. A lot of times, and it could be based on her size, she is a tweener. Mid-majors want her, Power 4s are trying to figure out where to place her. However, she can do all things in my opinion. I mentioned how she can score it, but she too can be shifty and handle the rock as well as be efficient and run an offense. She's played on a loaded Bradley Central team where she has her own unique role. With that being said, I am intrigued by a) her playing style b) what school she will choose to play for at the next level. This kid is phenomenal and will be solid at the next level.

Another 25 kid who is a trendsetter. An overseas talent who has come into the state and lit it on fire. A heady D1 prospect who can do it all. Score on all 3 levels, contribute on the boards, gets steals and deflections, a natural born leader who leads by example. She has power 4 schools waiting for her word. However, look for this kid to take her time especially when she has more championship aspirations on her mind. A solid kid who is poised and ready to take her talent to the next level and become a solid contributor to any school of her choosing.

Heady. Smart. Tough. Fearless. If you don't know, this kid is going to Harvard to hoop. What I will tell you is this, this kid is tough as all get out. I have seen her sacrifice her body for the betterment of the team. Wipe blood from her nose. Put some gause in her nostrils. Get back out there and drop more buckets. A true ball player who can shoot it from all three levels, turn around on the defensive end and lock up the opposition, eliminating their shot attempts by blocking their shots, getting steals, ect. She rebounds, takes charges, really a selfless ball player. Harvard is getting someone special. She is leaving the “Honey” Bears program to emulate and play like. A tremendous talent that will go on to do great things.

Growth. Every time I see this young lady, she keeps growing and growing in her game. The University of Cincinnati commit, nicknamed Hollywood, is one of the most dynamic players on the west side of the state (well within the state as well.) A swiss army knife who plays the game with a motor, she is a threat from all levels on the floor. She is a grinder, you know the moniker used by the Memphis Grizzlies “Grit and Grind,” she's that plus more. Defense becomes her offense as she gets hands on balls, steals and deflections by the boatload. Her team feeds off her energy, instilling confidence no matter the opponent. A sensational talent who is leaving a solid legacy for those to follow coming through the Dyersburg program.
