PGH Carolinas Expo: Akiem’s Primetime Performers (Part 1)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It was not that long ago that the Rock Hill Sports &amp; Events Center first opened its doors. As one of the more modern sports venues that there is, there is a huge reason why the venue has hosted a multitude of events since 2019.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This weekend was Prep Girls Hoops/Prep Hoops weekend in Rock Hill as the Freshman Showcases and Expo events for both took place. The North and South Carolina events were combined into one and welcomed prospects from both states.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There was a cavalcade of talent on hand representing both states. Reyes is one of those standouts from 4A Hartsville and she has been playing at the varsity level since she was an eighth grader when she played in 24 games. She has shown plenty of improvement as a scorer and that certainly was on display throughout the day. Her ability to collect steals only compliments what she is able to get accomplished on the offensive end. One portion of that youth is Levey who does plenty of work in the painted area. Levey is a multi-sport athlete who also competes in volleyball to go alongside her basketball exploits. While she will convert on easy buckets near the rim, she handles the tough situations well and finds a way for those shots to go in also. Rames is another multi-sport athlete who excels on the softball diamond as much as she does the basketball court. Two areas of her game that have seen improvement over the years are scoring efficiency and rebounding. Both of those were on full display throughout the day at Rock Hill. One reason why the Panthers put together another robust season that included a state tournament berth was the 3-point shooting prowess of Patterson. If a defender leaves her open behind the perimeter it is almost a guaranteed three points. Along with long range accuracy, she also brings versatility to any team she is on as she can operate at either of the guard positions in the backcourt along with playing at the wing.
