Today is the final day of recapping the PGH Freshman Showcase that took place a week and a half ago. Today, we wrap things up by discussing Team Ten and the notes I had on the kids on that team.

Francesca Mullen

A newcomer to the DSHA program, Mullen showed some positive signs on the offensive end of the floor. Mullen had a solid shooting form. Even if shots didn't fall as much as they could have that Sunday, I'm sure she'll be a fine shooter over the next four seasons. The Dasher also showed she could change directions quickly to get by her opponents, and she passed the ball well the entire game when I watched her play.

One constant of the undersized guards throughout the event was how well they managed to be productive in aspects of the game that won't show up in box scores. I thought she read the game well and put herself in positions to make plays on both ends of the floor. Kahl also shot the ball well in the 5v5 game I watched her play, and she'll likely be a piece that keeps Edgerton competitive for the next handful of years.

The younger sister of 2025 Lewis commit, [player_tooltip player_id='448257' first='Makenzie' last='Luehring'], Brooklyn, stood out in Appleton. Leuhring was one of the best finishers in the gym. There was one finish she had on the opposite end of the floor from me, and I still don't know how she got to fall. She has a knack for putting the ball in the basket. The Kettle Moraine Lutheran guard had a lightning-quick first step. The Charger also shot the ball well from the perimeter. The lefty should figure into the varsity rotation at some point during her first season at KML.

[player_tooltip player_id='874394' first='Mya' last='Johnson']

I've talked ad nauseam about how much I love guards with high motors. I'd seen the Oshkosh West guard this past summer and loved what she did when I watched her at Shakopee High School in Minnesota at Summer Jam this past AAU season. On the defensive end, you can put her anywhere on the floor, and she'll find a way to be successful and make plays on the ball. Johnson fits the identity the Wildcats have built over the past few seasons and will add value to the program with her ability to defend high-level FVA guards and wings to keep the Wildcats competitive.
