The North Laurel girls basketball program is in good hands with Head Coach Eddie Mahan at the helm. They posted a 26-9 record last season and made their second straight trip to Rupp Arena. [player_tooltip player_id='493157' first='Haley' last='Combs'] averaged 7.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in her sophomore season for the Lady Jaguars. Combs displays a high IQ on the court and plays with a level of poise that you like to see in your starting PG. You can trust her to run the offensive and make the right decisions. Combs is at her best when she drives the ball and penetrates the defense to finish inside or dish it to open teammates. I believe she will turn heads this season and is a prospect to track going forward.

Corbin went 22-9 and finished as one of the top teams in the 13th region. Head Coach Isaac Wilson turned this program into a well-oiled machine. They always have talented players and are well-coached. University of Cumberlands commit [player_tooltip player_id='1053070' first='Kylie' last='Clem'] averaged 14.2 PPG, was the second leading scorer, and made the all-region 2nd team last season. Her ability to impact the game on both ends of the of the floor will be vital for Lady Redhounds and I believe she will showcase her leadership and lead Corbin to another successful season and possibly make it back to the state tournament for the second time in four years.

[player_tooltip player_id='747692' first='Madisyn' last='Hopkins'] finished the 2023-2024 season averaging 14 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Hopkins is a guard with great size and a unique skill set. She can knock down shots from 3-point land and does a good job getting her feet set and eyes on the rim. Hopkins rebounds the ball extremely well for a guard and can defend the perimeter as well as the post. She led the team in scoring last season and I expect her to do much of the same if not more this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1053081' first='Presley' last='Spicer'] is a 6-foot center/forward at Williamsburg High School. As a freshman she averaged 5.2 PPG and grabbed 6.1 RPG. Spicer has good size and a strong frame that she uses to her advantage in the paint. She knows how to secure and track down rebounds and always makes sure to box out when a shot goes up. She converts at a high rate around the rim and is capable of making 10-15 feet jumpers. Spicer will step into a much bigger role as a sophomore this season.

Middlesboro has one of the top scorers in the 13 region in [player_tooltip player_id='1053086' first='Keevi' last='Betts']. She led the way for the Lady Jackets with 17.3 points and 5.5 rebounds a game last season. Betts scores in bunches and can deliver from anywhere on the floor. I see her going out with a bang in her senior campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id='649318' first='Ava' last='Arnett'] is a name you need to know at Pineville High School. She holds several college offers and has 1,000+ career points and 500+ career rebounds. Arnett is a long and athletic wing with a great all-round game. Her ability to score, rebound, facilitate and defend makes her a complete player. Arnette will be relied on a lot more in her senior season for the Lady Lions.
