May I have your attention please. It's time for the country to recognize that the state of Tennessee can hoop and we are more than just a football state. Geez! What do we have to do for folks to recognize that we have some talent around here? From the mountains to the cities, Tennessee women's hoops is serious business. Saturday night around the state saw another spectacular day of women's hoops in the volunteer state.

This week has been a tremendous opening week that has had a little bit of everything. Some nice matchups. Some upsets. Some teams coming out the gates hot. Some teams are picking up where they left off last year. Even though we are on the cusp of the Thanksgiving holiday, teams that saw action on Saturday didn't disappoint those who were in attendance. Personally, I am thrilled to have seen some young talent go toe to toe with some upperclassmen. It's funny to see the power struggle to be honest with you. Freshmen and sophomores who are fearless. Juniors and seniors showing the youngsters who means boss and putting them in their place. All this does is bring up the value and style of play around the state. Week 1 is done and I personally can't wait for week 2 and the holiday tournaments are in store.

Here are some scores from around the state.

Knox Webb 66: Elizabethton 41

York Institute 48 Greeneville 43

Cleveland 71: Coalfield 50

TKA 54: Farragut 50

Aloca 63: Hardin Valley 61

Upperman 42: Maryville 36

Bradley Central 59:Lebanon 28

Coffee Co. 40: Nolensville 41

Clarksville Academy 47: Kirkwood 32

Westview 62: USJ 46

Bartlett 46: Link Academy (MO) 33

Ezell Harding 60: Columbia Academy 52

Here are some notable standouts from Saturday night around the state.

Led the Lady Eagles with 18 points in a victory over Columbia Academy. She played with tons of energy as her sweet lefty stroke was on display. She got downhill and finished against contact. Let it fly from the arc, scorching the bottom of the net. She was big time on defense, getting a few steals and deflections. She was on point pushing the ball in transition. She is a heady floor general who makes the right reads and knows when to exploit a gap. Look for her to have a great senior season and turn even more heads from college coaches.

If there was a most improved award, she would be in that category. She had 10 points, 6 rebs, and 3 assists in a tough loss against the Lady Eagles of Ezell. She was active on both ends of the floor and her energy was on display for all to see. This kid keeps getting better. She is playing with poise, confidence, and hustles on each and every play. Solid kid who is on an upwards trajectory.

One of the best PGs in the state, dropped 29 points on Powell as her team was victorious. This 3 level player is so dynamic. Has great ability to handle the rock, change speeds, make timely passes, and defend like crazy. If a college program was in the business for a game changer, I wouldn't look no further than this young lady. Look for her to have a sensational season and lead her team back to state contention.

A nightly double figure scorer who led her team with 17pts in a win over Maryville. Add her 4 assists and 4 steals and this kid was definitely big time on both ends of the floor. MO East got them a superb talent in this young lady. A 3 level scoring threat who can do it all. Look for her to have a big time year and continue to get better and stronger down the stretch.

She's back and on it again. This under the radar prospect is coming off an injury and picking up right where she left off. 21 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal. What more could you ask for in a kid? Talented sophomore player who is poised to have a breakout year and climb the charts. Keep an eye on this kid for sure.

Talk about a kid who has an all around game. She's the one. 20 points, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 7 rebounds. Checked every statistical box there is. Super talented kid junior who is ready to let everyone know that her squad is for real. An exceptional leader who is fundamentally sound and plays the game the right way. Hustles on each possession, she is a grinder who knows when and where to pick her spots. Look for her to help lead her team back to state contention. Exceptional talent that continues to grow.
