Putnam City North go 2-0 in Texas

Putnam City North has Class 6A title aspirations. So far, so good. They participated in a par of contests in Texas at "The Match Up", including an overtime thriller against traditional Texas powerhouse, Duncanville. PCN prevailed with the 57-51 win and senior [player_tooltip player_id='315218' first='Brandie' last='Harrod'] led the way. In her first game as a Lady Panther, the athletic do it all wing stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Joining her in double figures was [player_tooltip player_id='802022' first='Nykaiya' last='Dillard'] with 13 points and a pair of blocks. It's no surprise to see the hard nosed, long armed guard pick up a couple blocks. Another key performer is also a newcomer to PCN, sharpshooting junior [player_tooltip player_id='578025' first='Kiana' last='Gray']. She had 11 points while handing out 3 assists.

The Lady Panthers followed up their Friday night win with a 59-44 over Legion Prep. In an exciting class 6A, the Panthers are deep with talent and are primed to build off their run to the Class 6A quarterfinals.

GRIND > FAITH
On Friday night, GRIND Prep hosted nationally ranked Faith Family from Texas, with the hosts winning 63-53. GRIND has also racked up the wins at out of state events and has a starting lineup filled with future D1 players.
Classen SAS wins OKC Clash

In a 405 clash between Classen SAS and Harding Charter, the Lady Comets came away with a 49-41 win. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='578033' first='Makiya' last='Moore'] led the way with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Joining her in double figures was fellow junior [player_tooltip player_id='846970' first='Paige' last='Williams']. She had a full stat line with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and perhaps most importantly 7 assists. It looks like Williams and Moore are set to be a tough one-two punch in the backcourt. Combined with seniors in the front court, the Lady Comets will be a big factor in Class 5A. Next up for them this weekend are match up swith Arkansas programs Mills University Studies (AR) and Bryant (AR).

Small School Domination

There's some strong statements being made in the small town ranks, let's start with one of the most prestigious small town programs, Dale. The Class 2A runner up Lady Pirates have started the year on a mission. Dale is now 3-0 with an average margin of over 40 points a game. Their closest game came against Frontier, where Dale ONLY won by 73-29. A check of Dale's Hudl pages shows highlights of the whole squad getting in on the action with two returnees for the Lady Pirates standing out. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1116945' first='Kynlee' last='Bullard'] appears to be shooting the cover off the ball to start the season. While senior [player_tooltip player_id='1140879' first='Teague' last='Muncy'] is a havoc causing, key part of Dale's pressure defense with steals, deflections, blocks and more.

One of the potential rivals for Dale in Class 2A comes from Enid. As Oklahoma Bible Academy was bumped up to Class 2A after finishing as runners in Class A last year and reaching the quarterfinals two years ago. They return much of their production from last year, and set the tone with a 64-3 win over Wynonna. It shouldn't be shocking to see them lay the smack down when they return the great one-two punch of seniors [player_tooltip player_id='802021' first='Conley' last='Lael Cayot'] and [player_tooltip player_id='895738' first='Lilyan' last='Walden'].

In deep Class 4A, the tall Pirates of Locust Grove are looking for a repeat run to the Class 4A State Tournament. And shaking up the status quo with their mixture of height and skill. They started the season by stifling Skiatook with a 46-22 victory. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='572961' first='Hannah' last='Bond'] dominated the paint with the first of what should be many double-doubles. She finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds.

Statline of the Week

Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='750894' first='Trinity' last='Boone'] shined for Casady in a pair of wins on Friday and Saturday. She started by stuffing the statsheet with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals against Crooked Oak. Then was even more productive with a 25 point and 11 rebound double against OCA. She also handed out 5 assists in that contest. Boone is an electric guard and if the opening weekend was any indication, she's going to produce eye popping stat lines all years long for Casady. She averaged 18 a game as a sophomore, and now should be producing 20+ nightly. With a full stat line to go with her scoring accolades.
