From the scoring, to defending to, to the pageantry, to the different styles being played, to the simple fact no matter where you are or who you are, you could pick up a basketball and work on your game. Kids every single day get overlooked for whatever reason. It happens from the time they are little to even now when they get older, for whatever reason kids sometimes get missed. Maybe it's their size. Maybe their speed. Sometimes we just can't quantify it or reason with why someone who has the power to make decisions to choose a child's future, sometimes the kid gets overlooked.   The more I cover the game, the more I see kids in my opinion that can play and contribute to the success of a ball club. Don ‘t get me wrong, I too miss things, but I am not in position to make certain calls. What I am talking about is if I were a head coach at a university, there are times where I have liked somebody, yet the other person didn't. It happens all the time. What I nor anyone else knows is the inner workings or what that program needs. I know I am kind of going off on a tangent, but here me out. I personally feel that no matter the level (D1,D2,D3,NAIA,JUCO) you can find what you need here in Tennessee. Programs in this state could actually build a solid program by recruiting their own. I know it's sexy to have nationally ranked kids and all that, but if you need kids who can support and contribute as well, look no further than right around the corner. Each class has it's studs. They are different in their own right. What I am saying is this, in this state, in this class, we have some under the radar girls who can help a program out. Here are just a few kids who are those kinds of girls.      Dual sports athlete who is a three level scoring threat. Plays with an unbelievable motor that enables her to impact the game on both ends of the floor. She is the “can do all” type of girl and can play any position 1-4. She is below 6'0 but plays big time. She's on the boards, she is hungry on the defensive end, she pretty much does all things and does it efficiently and effectively. She has flown under the radar her whole career. Don't know the reason, maybe it's her size and the coaches can't quantify a distinct position. Just know that this girl can flat out play and she is a tremendous difference maker.     Solid kid who has grown in both size and in her game. Each year it seems that she adds something to her arsenal. One year she was a three point threat. Next year she is slicing to the rim and going up strong, this year she has added the pull up jumper, I mean every year she keeps getting better and better. Gritty player who just loves to compete. Tell her once, she gets it and goes hard at it. The kid is growing and will be a solid addition at the next level.     Love this kid's heart. No pun intended. I have seen her multiple times and she plays the game with such a passion. A communicator who knows what she excels at doing and does it at a high clip. She is big in the screen game, working the lower blocks, using back to the basket moves to finish. On the defensive end she is a communicator, letting her teammates know what action is happening behind their backs. She gets after it and every time she steps onto the floor, she just continues to get better. Look for her to help propel her ball club to new heights this year.     For starters, she has grown confident in her abilities to get the job done. Her coaches trust her to execute what is being asked. This kid has been battle tested and it is showing it in her abilities as she exploits the other team's weaknesses. Samantha is a 3 level scoring threat who can knock down shots from multiple areas on the floor. She is a heady ball player who takes what the defense gives her. She doesn't force things, and contributes in all phases of the game. Look for her to be a solid piece to the Lady Patriots run towards state contention.     Solid ball player who can score the basketball and facilitate the rock. A heady ball player who is selfless. A team first attitude, she is going to make sure her teammates get love early and often. She will score points from both near and far, however it's her ability to do the little things that make her stand out the most. Timely passes, communicate, get her teammates in the correct spots, play defense, get steals, grab boards, things such as these that kids her height don't normally do. A fundamentally sound kid who is a tough competitor. Look for her to have a sensational senior season and help CAK make a run this year.
