The CR - Washington Warriors ended up winning their contest on Tuesday night against Des Moines East by a final of 114-9. Yup. You read that correctly. In this major victory, their leading scorer was someone that isn't always their leader in that category, making it even more note-worthy and that was [player_tooltip player_id='832201' first='Elysionna' last='Westerfield']. Westerfield has always been a skilled guard for her 2027 grade level. She is a recruit that has been a Top 25 player in her Class ever since the beginning of her high school career and this season could be a very special one for her with performances like these. I do not care who you are or who you are playing. To average 3.5 Points Per Minutes, for an entire game at any level is insanity and it just shows how good this team was on that side of the ball throughout this one.

[player_tooltip player_id='1044941' first='Harlow' last='Griffin'] attended out PGH Showcase this Fall in Des Moines and she showed out as one of the most complete 2027's at the event. To follow, it's nice to see that Griffin is using that momentum on the Varsity high school floor already. On Tuesday evening, Marion fell just short of their cross-town rivals Linn-Mar but it wasn't due to a lack of effort. The unquestionable leadership throughout this contest from both the naked eye POV and stats perspective was Griffin. Griffin is a prospect coming into high school right at 5'11 and she has some really respectable skill to her craft. She moves well for her size, she has a versatile skill-set with the ball in her possession, and she has that mixture of length & athletic ability that all coaches love to see. This is really only the start for someone like this. Griffin's future potential is there, she just needs to keep on working at her weaknesses.

Storm Lake secured a solid W last night with their team effort on both offense and defense. Someone for this group, that is prepped for a big Winter ahead is their CG/SG.- [player_tooltip player_id='560332' first='Avery' last='DeHaan']. DeHaan registered over 20 points last night in her team's victory, while hitting 5 three point attempts from the outside. From start to finish this game was DeHaan's. Sometimes it's just a players night and it was her's in this situation. She kicked things off by scoring early and often with her shooting ability, then her team's defense took things from there. It'll be fun to watch this Storm Lake group these next three months. They have a few prospects we have spoken on, so it's always interesting to see what they will be able to put together as a group but as for Tuesday night, it was all DeHaan.

The CR - Prairie Hawk have started off their season with a bang, beating three very impressive teams in Davenport North, Bishop Heelan, and Mount Vernon. This is easily the best start to the season for any high school team in the state of Iowa when taking into consideration their early opponents, the location of each contest, and the prospects that they have on their roster. Someone who was VITAL in their win against a top ranking 4A team in Mount Vernon last night was [player_tooltip player_id='311379' first='Neveah' last='Diaz-Doolin']. The Mustangs have a unique defensive strategy. They don't seem to respect other Forwards or Centers shooting ability while their 6'2 Center - [player_tooltip player_id='1005091' first='Chloe' last='Meester'] plays defense. She just sits in the lane to protect the hoop while everyone else is in man2man and this gave Neveah some big-time confidence. She started off the contest by banging a three ball right off the bat and it didn't end there. The Hawks were actually down by 10 at half time but came roaring back with a new defensive strategy in the third quarter, while Diaz-Doolin caught on fire even more from the outside. All in all, Prairie is a state contender right now. It's really early in their season but they have proven that they can out-strategize anyone up until this point. That alone will win them a lot of games. When you pair that with their roster of college level prospects, things become even more clear from an outside point-of-view.

[player_tooltip player_id='560335' first='Jordyn' last='Crosman'] had her Sophomore season end short because of a leg injury but now she is back. In her Ogden team's contest on Tuesday, Crosman almost single handedly outscored the opposing team by herself with a 34 point outburst. This outburst may come as a shock for some but not if you understand what Crosman brings to the hardwood. She is a high-end competitor that plays with an edge, she has solid skill in almost every facet of the game as a guard, and she is a great teammate. Those three things can lead to success on the high school floor and that has been the case so far this season. If she continues to stay locked in and competes with this new confidence, I'm sure there is going to be a college recruiter or two that reach out to her before this season comes to close.

South Hardin High School locked in a resounding victory last night in their 72-39 over Oelwein. In the victory, the leading scorer of the game was [player_tooltip player_id='896460' first='Alli' last='Sheldahl'] at the Forward position for the Tigers with 22 points on 10-18 shooting from the field, including going 2-3 behind the three point line. This may be the first time we are mentioning Sheldahl this high school season but it certainly won't be the last. This will be a top producer for her team over the next three months and that might even lead her into having some impressive numbers from a state-wide perspective as well.
