Cedar Rapids Jefferson ended their regular season with two very impressive wins against ranked schools near by in Iowa City – City High and Cedar Rapids – Prairie. During both of these W’s,

was a constant on the offensive end. She scored from all three levels, from the inside-to-out and each one of those points was vital as they only won by 4 in each battle. Don’t be mistaken though. Westerfield has been a light for this team all season long. She is averaging 14.4 PPG on 37% shooting from the floor and they will continue to look for her the closer their team gets to a State appearance. She is their most versatile player accounting for skill, length, and guard-like ability. Which will continue to carry her into success.

Jefferson leans heavily on Westerfield as a scorer and facilitator. Those contributions were compromised when the Jefferson junior found herself in foul trouble early and often when we watched her at Iowa City High late in the regular season. Put in that position, Westerfield displayed a great deal of maturity. She returned to the game with poise after sitting for an extended time twice, not forcing the action, just playing her game. A tight handle, quickness and explosiveness all are present. There’s three-level scoring ability and excellent on-ball defense. Long arms help in getting shot attempts over taller opponents and in pestering opposing ball handlers.

2027 got a big W on Friday with a 35+ point victory to start off their weekend. In this showing, the star for the TI program was

. Westerfield controlled the whole game with her offense and defense. She understood exactly when to trap hard or sprint back to help into recovery. She also hit big threes early to control the game to start things off HOT from the jump. In general, she seems to understand how to get her teammates involved as well. In the end, she finished the contest off leading the way with 18 points (8-11), 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 8 steals, while going 2-3 from behind the three point arc.

and what she can bring to the floor. Westerfield is a different talent. She has decent size, she understands all situations on the floor around her, and she is pretty versatile in anything she does. I wound’t say that she is a 1/2 or a 4/5 and she does possesses some athletic ability so she comes in as more of a 3 at the CG position at this time. In this event she had her moments. In competitive play she dominated smaller defenders near the basket but she also displayed that she can step out and hit a three ball, if others don’t respect her from that distance. Defensively, she moved well with who she was guarding and she didn’t seem to get beat much. She was disciplined to stay down on pump fake or things of that natural and that stood out. CR – Washington is going to be looking for another big Winter later this year. If players like this keep working in their off-season, who knows what they might do as a team when they all come back together.

There are a handful of players that CR – Washington possesses that could step up each night for a big game. Another player from this group that showed her arsenal at a thorough rate on Friday was CG,

. We know Westerfield from the AAU floor but in reality, she is a good source of production at this point in her career for her varsity program. She might not be the one to average 30 and 10 each night but she does usually show up in a few different ways in the stat book and that is respectable.

The CR – Washington Warriors ended up winning their contest on Tuesday night against Des Moines East by a final of 114-9. Yup. You read that correctly. In this major victory, their leading scorer was someone that isn’t always their leader in that category, making it even more note-worthy and that was

. Westerfield has always been a skilled guard for her 2027 grade level. She is a recruit that has been a Top 25 player in her Class ever since the beginning of her high school career and this season could be a very special one for her with performances like these. I do not care who you are or who you are playing. To average 3.5 Points Per Minutes, for an entire game at any level is insanity and it just shows how good this team was on that side of the ball throughout this one.

has sneaky ability on the court. This is a prospect that can really “wow” you, if you don’t tag her early on in a contest. Her raw potential mixed with her athletic ability is something that most don’t account for and when that happens, she seems to thrive. This Spring on a
Team Iowa
2027 BlueStar team, Westerfield shows that she is consistently one of their best prospects. She makes things happen out of thin air, she can leave her defenders in the dust, and she is a willing/able passer once things open up on the offensive side of the ball. Last season for CR Washington, she made her mark and put everyone on notice but that was just the start of things. I have a feeling that this Winter will be her best season to date if she stays locked in and is used in the correct ways.

is someone that I would keep an eye on throughout the 2027 Class here in Iowa.
Team Iowa
2027 BlueStar went into the weekend with a good amount of wins for their season already under their belts but that didn’t stop them from going out and putting on a show. One of their best and most consistent players was Guard,

. To explain her game, the way I would describe it is fundamental yet crafty. She can make something happen out on thin air on any possession with her handle and awareness, she can rebound and defend with the best of them, and she is a very tough matchup in 1v1 situations. As you can tell, there is a lot of promise here. If she can continue working hard and expand her game to be able to shoot it from deep behind the arc eventually, she will be in great shape. She is coming off of a high school season where she saw the Varsity floor so as long as she continues to get better, that will be the case again this Winter and I’m sure she is going to be able to continue producing with that squad.

. Westerfield is a player with some long arms, an act for being in the right place at the right time, and some natural skill. More times than not, she is crossing over her defender and getting to whatever spot she wants on the floor at any given moment. She is going to be a player on this team that everyone looks to when they need a bucket offensively. Just like Troh, she is very good at creating off the bounce and she isn’t afraid to get physical, mixing it up with some bigger players near the paint. When talking into consideration everyone that is on this roster, Westerfield’s ceiling may be the highest. The jury still isn’t out on that one but we will see. If she is as dominant as I think she can be over these next few months, she is going to be prospect we hear a lot about moving forward.
