The two articles I have coming out today aren't what I usually do. First, I'll highlight some kids who've jumped out on streams I've watched for various reasons, and the second one will highlight this week of upsets across the state.

Muskego defeats Arrowhead, 64-57

The Warriors have had a head-scratching start to the season, losing on the road at Kenosha Bradford. However, they beat Hudson on a neutral court and handed reigning state champions Arrowhead their first loss.

I've said it before about Muskego, but their depth is legit, and they have plenty of redundancies that fit their system. Kids like [player_tooltip player_id='883652' first='Maive' last='Coggins'], Claire Sperka, and [player_tooltip player_id='884001' first='Cassidy' last='Hemauer'] make this system work. Each understands their responsibilities on both ends of the floor and is empowered to shoot when they're open and attack the basket when they see fit. There's no timidness when their bench kids are on the floor, which is rare.

The four of [player_tooltip player_id='528116' first='Autumn' last='Dibb'], [player_tooltip player_id='528122' first='Melena' last='Glysch'], [player_tooltip player_id='528119' first='Rachel' last='Agg'], and [player_tooltip player_id='842235' first='Mallory' last='Glysch'] play without egos. Each may force shots from time to time that aren't there, but they're all connected. You can tell they enjoy being around one another and playing for each other, leading to more success than people outside the program expected.

De Pere defeats Notre Dame, 56-42

After 69 straight FRCC victories, Notre Dame has lost a conference game.

De Pere has been on the cusp of knocking Notre Dame off for a few years, dating back to when Butler wing Jordan Meulemans was still a Redbird. The Redbirds have a scoring unit by committee this season after the departure of Claire Bjorge, but that is working wonders early. The 3-0 Redbirds have had six kids score in double figures thus far.

Abby Tassoul, [player_tooltip player_id='874376' first='Adeline' last='Dwyer'], [player_tooltip player_id='874379' first='Aubree' last='Fischer'], [player_tooltip player_id='448312' first='Egan' last='Bierowski'], Jaden Ciesielcyzk, and [player_tooltip player_id='992482' first='Allie' last='Neuenfeldt'] all have the threat of leading the Redbirds to wins on any night, and that depth has now given De Pere control of their own destiny after a massive home win against the FRCC titans, Notre Dame.

Kohler defeats Sheboygan Lutheran 50-49

The Crusaders of Sheboygan Lutheran have consistently been second in the Big East-South for a few seasons and have the tools to make a deep run in the postseason, and still do. However, a Gwenn Elliot trip to the free-throw line spoiled their early start to the season.

Milton defeats Waunakee, 73-68 (OT)

In a game where an opposing guard torched Milton's defense, they battled back from a second-half deficit to defeat the upstart Warriors in overtime.

Kylee Butchen, [player_tooltip player_id='888860' first='Nayeli' last='Kilen'], and [player_tooltip player_id='883195' first='Allison' last='Kojo'] are threats when they're on the floor, and they have a winning mentality in the Red Hawk program. [player_tooltip player_id='1220819' first='Sydney' last='Grady'] also made winning plays on the defensive end last night in Waunakee.

Another key figure in the program, [player_tooltip player_id='593198' first='Julia' last='Wolf'], is hopefully nearing a return from her knee injury last season. It could be a surprising season from Milton in the Badger-Large this season.
