I'll never forget Carolyn Peck coming to watch my daughter and leaving shortly after she missed a couple of shots yet a few days later she wanted the high school coach's information to come and watch a practice. I said "But you left after she missed the shots" and her response was "Yes but she had 3 steals, 3 assists, was vocal on the court, and broke the press with ease"

She then added "Mr Colson, there's more to basketball than scoring and we're offering her a scholarship" so this was my baby entering her freshman season and it changed the way I looked at this completely because I know players who have averaged 30, 40, even 50 points in high school that panned out in college so here ya go

Carrasco showed me she was special in the 5th grade and not cracking a smile playing up against older players, she handled the pressure with ease. Fast forward to now, watching her come up with plays to change the momentum is common, the big steal, the defensive stop, or her patterned pull-up jumper is creating some problems yet when you factor in her court vision and ability to run the 1 or 2 efficiently and effectively...

Vowels are A, E, I, O, and U, and watching her use her Athleticism on both ends of the court as a freshman, as well as her Effort got her added to the Top 100 as a freshman, it doesn't take me long to know what I'm looking at. The IOU has been paid in full after catching back up with her and observing her blow by defenders to score, body control after contact was nice yet even nicer was seeing her drop the mid to long-range, "catch and shoot" from deep included

Kelly is proving to be an X factor for her squad and the glue because you can't teach what she does. She's smooth off the dribble, she can accelerate in the open court or use the sleight HEZ in the set to get to the basket yet her acrobatic finishes are sweet. She plays the passing lane and does a good job defending baseline to baseline, her quick hands pickpockets yet her "stop and pop" jumper had me going

Harden was one of many pleasant surprises for me at the Sandra Meadows Classic and does a good job of defending not only in the set but in transition as well. She also has nice moves to help create her shot but her deceptive first step allowed her to get by the defender and attack the basket to score

Gregory set it off over the club season every time I saw her on the PGH Circuit so watching her play multiple positions was no surprise. She understands positioning and outrebounds taller players yet she can handle the ball after or ignite the break with an outlet. Midrange jumper as well as off the dribble are still strong assets, so is her defense and court vision

Spencer for Hire was a TV show, I've used that several times yet watching her via LIVESTREAM is nice but in person, I see EVERYTHING including her coming from out of nowhere playing the passing lane to get steals. She's strong and athletic and can wear players down but her punishing off the dribble to score is special because contact is irrelevant. Her defense across the board is solid, and so is her rebounding

Epps was another athletic guard who showed she could bring heat on both ends and her "on the ball" pressure immediately grabbed my attention because she wouldn't let up against one of the top teams from the Houston area, "it's not what you do, it's who you do it against" so seeing her drop the "catch and shoot" 3 was another plus, so was her playing the passing lane

Adeleke has taken her game to another level and it wasn't hard because she falls into that "never takes a play off" category. She dives for loose balls, she plays the passing lane and she goes AFTA everything off the rim, all things I love because they can't be taught. I enjoyed her getting rim strongly but her short pull-up jumper was also nice
