Nobody can do it alone in the game of basketball. It takes teamwork to win, of course, and that often comes in the form of not one but two big dogs who set the tone for their teams, either in a single contest but more often over the course of an entire season. We certainly saw that over the weekend at Breakdown USA's Granite City Classic. Throughout the two days of action we watched at the College of St. Benedict, there were multiple dynamic duos who led the way for their squad. Here are the top five.

[player_tooltip player_id='453752' first='Aubrey' last='Burkhart'] & [player_tooltip player_id='453770' first='Maddy' last='Hamdorf'] – Southwest Christian

There were plenty of college coaches in the gym this weekend. Not 10 minutes into Southwest Christian's opening game on Friday, one of them texted me with a question. “Yo, who's #2 on Southwest ?! Has she committed?" The player in question was Burkhart. The answer was, ‘Yes, with Dordt.' It's no wonder Aubrey's play drew attention from a college coach. We've watched her for years but have never seen her look as good as she did this weekend. Burkhart combined with Hamdorf, also a senior, to form a potent one-two punch in both games.

Averaging 26 ppg on the season, Aubrey scored 29 against Crosby-Ironton and another 23 in a win over Albany. Hamdorf, whose length and athleticism has long been her trademark, was equally good in multiple aspects of play. Averaging 18, Maddy had 21 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists versus the Rangers followed by an 18-and-11 performance versus the Huskies. This duo has long been important for SWC but never more than now following the departures of [player_tooltip player_id='600748' first='Kaja' last='Nash'] and [player_tooltip player_id='734360' first='Gigi' last='Coleman']. By the way, Hamdorf has also signed at the next level. She'll suit up in D1 soccer at the University of St. Thomas.

[player_tooltip player_id='252381' first='Maddyn' last='Greenway'] & [player_tooltip player_id='296515' first='Hope' last='Counts'] – Providence Academy

Providence Academy is the top team in Minnesota right now, regardless of class. It's hard to imagine what the Lions would look like without Maddyn and Hope. Certainly there are other quality kids in the lineup – we saw plenty this weekend from [player_tooltip player_id='529357' first='Emma' last='Millerbernd'] and [player_tooltip player_id='872714' first='Beckett' last='Greenway'], for example – but the team's success is highly dependent on this pair of Division 1 college commits.

On Friday, Greenway was her usual stellar self at the point guard position while Counts made a string of crucial defensive plays from her forward spot that enabled Providence to stage a dramatic comeback victory over Hopkins. Counts, who has signed with Lipscomb University in Nashville, was blocking shots, forcing turnovers and doing the hard labor that leads to excellent scoring opportunities for her teammates. Greenway was the center of attention as usual as the Kentucky commit and top-ranked junior in the state put up 36 points in the victory. On Saturday, the Lions scored a convincing win over Duluth Marshall to run their season record to 11-0, thanks in no small part to this dynamic duo who are averaging a combined 42 points and 16 rebounds per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='908260' first='Maggie' last='Dyer'] & [player_tooltip player_id='806429' first='Amelia' last='Mills'] – Rochester Mayo

Rochester Mayo coach Andy Bromeling is a man on a mission. Since taking over the program, Bromeling has been trying to shed weak opponents from the schedule and replace them with powerhouse teams that can help his group be better prepared for post-season play where their primary goal is to get by Lakeville North in Section 1AAAA. On Saturday at St. Ben's, Mayo reached a major milestone in its evolution by scoring an impressive 68-66 win over the defending state champions from Minnetonka.

The Spartans' upgraded level of performance has been sparked by a pair of 9th graders who played very well last season but have taken the proceedings to higher heights this time around. The results were on full display this weekend as Dyer and Mills played their socks off, combining for 43 points in the victory, a notch above their combined season average of 31. Mills made one great play after another; Dyer parlayed her skill and athleticism into important points and crucial stops. There's a reason Maggie is the 7th ranked prospect in the Class of 2028 while Amelia is 12th. They played like top-notch prospects when it mattered most.

[player_tooltip player_id='296516' first='Regan' last='Juenemann'] & [player_tooltip player_id='205310' first='Tori' last='Oehrlein'] – Crosby-Ironton

What can you say about Tori that hasn't already been said? The Rangers junior is simply special. Averaging over 29 ppg this season, Oehrlein has a chance to become Minnesota's all-time scoring leader before she's done. Tori is one of the best playmakers and defenders in the state, as well. There's not much the University of Minnesota commit cannot do. This season her life has become a little easier thanks to the addition of Juenemann, who came over from Duluth Marshall for her senior season. Regan's arrival, and subsequent rejuvenation in her own game, has taken the 11-0 Rangers up another notch in the Class 2A pecking order.

Crosby-Ironton has become much more difficult to defend now that teams cannot focus all of their efforts on stopping one player. Opponents must guard Juenemann tightly, as well. And then there's junior [player_tooltip player_id='826639' first='Sammie' last='Hachey'] whose game continues to grow. All of that was evident at St. Ben's in convincing wins over Southwest Christian and Goodhue. Tori had a triple-double against SWC with 32 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. She followed that with a 30-and-16 performance versus Goodhue. Regan, who is one of the state's premier unsigned seniors. had 12 against the Stars and 24 versus the Wildcats.

[player_tooltip player_id='764229' first='Toni' last='Fisher'] & [player_tooltip player_id='453731' first='Haven' last='Fisher'] – Prior Lake

It's easier to form the proverbial “dynamic duo” when the two participants are flesh and blood. We've seen that over and over, from the Hanna triplets at Maple Grove to the Ramlall sisters in Rosemount to the Wilsons over at Hill-Murray. Sisters just seem to have that sixth sense that makes them doubly effective. Prior Lake put together an exceptionally strong performance on Saturday to score a 67-62 win over Wayzata, and they did it largely on the backs of Haven and Toni. Certainly, the win involved many more girls than just the Fishers, including senior [player_tooltip player_id='296514' first='Alaya' last='Carter'] pictured above with Toni in the middle and Haven on the right. But Haven and Toni were the key.

It wasn't that long ago when Haven was a skinny little thing who had plenty of potential but not enough strength to deliver on it at the time. Her dad cautioned us that members of the Fisher clan tend to grow later than most kids, himself included. Never have more prescient words been uttered. Today, the senior is a physical force with the type of size and strength that can dominate opponents. She's committed to D1 Tulsa because of that and her relentless motor. Toni, on the other hand, is a lanky sophomore with superior athleticism and some real bounce who has the skill to score and the length to defend at a high level. She's a Top 25 prospect in the Class of 2027. The Fishers' numbers aren't eye-popping, but their impact all over the court is more than worthy of headlines.
