We highlighted [player_tooltip player_id='788566' first='Maddie' last='Casey'] at the beginning of the season with her commitment to Quincy University. Ever since, Casey has the nets on fire with her playmaking ability on the offensive end of the ball, while being a stout defender as well. What makes Casey deadly on offense is her shooting capabilities and her ability to play off of that shot with the dribble. This season she has consistently demonstrated that she can knock down long rang shots from all around the perimeter. When she is being overplayed on that shot, she does have the skill-set to dribble past her defender to look for a more favorable shot attempt. Defensively, she has fast feet, quick adaptability, and active hands that help lead her to tips/deflections on that end. The Playoffs are coming up quick. If Liberty can lock in mentally and limit their mistakes, they are going to be a tough out, no matter where they are placed when that time comes.

Benton may have fallen short the other night against Monticello High School but they did have 1 or 2 standouts on the evening. One of them being SF, [player_tooltip player_id='1162868' first='Hannah' last='Greiner']. Greiner would be categorized as an undersized Small Forward, that does a good job of mixing it up with any other bigger players that might be in her way. When the final buzzer sounded, Greiner had near double-digits in rebounds, while also leading her team in scoring while going perfect from the field on 6 shot attempts. The Bobcats may of came up short in the end but Greiner did what she could and that's respectable.

The steady performances from [player_tooltip player_id='644557' first='Ari' last='Phillips'] this Winter have been noticeable. Phillips might not be the star on her team but she can play at an elite level compared to most. Phillips is a guard that understands time, tempo, and her own ability. When she has the basketball in the open floor in 1v1 situations, she is almost impossible to stay in front of because of her shifty handle and her understanding of how to get into her defender early on in the possession. Johnston has a very talented roster so to stand out in anyway, says something and Phillips has definitely stood out a few times this Winter already.

Emmetsburg moved to 11-6 on Saturday with their win over South O'Brien, 52-20. The E-Hawks came into the weekend and took care of business with their usual suspect leading the group. The usual suspect that I am referring to is [player_tooltip player_id='839338' first='Rachel' last='Schany']. Schany, a 5'11 PF, showed off in this contest as to why she is someone that everyone in the state should know about. She finished with 23 points (9-16), 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, and 3 blocks. This showing really displayed her versatility from all levels offensively. Not to mention, defensively, where she stayed in front of whoever she was guarding, while being someone that could jump over from help-side if a fellow teammate gets beaten. All in all, this was a good showing, that the E-Hawks should be able to build off of moving forward.

#15 Carroll High School got a major victory over the past few days with their performance against #1 St. Albert by a final of 48-47 on Saturday. The main producer for the Tigers being 2026 SF, [player_tooltip player_id='1162829' first='Ali' last='Kock']. Kock led all scores with 15 points, along with grabbing 9 rebounds and 3 steals. She also helped her group on the defensive end with her lengthy arms and quick thinking. This was one of those scrappy battles that could have gone either way but in the end, the Tigers handled the storm and came out on top. Carroll is a sneaky program. If other team's don't take them seriously in the Playoffs, who knows what might happen..
