Scouting Report: Emerging Talents in Girls’ Basketball

I will say, rankings aren't perfect and throughout the course of it all, things will change. New girls will be discovered. Players will get better. There isn't a big database that records stats or a publication that has all coaches across the board&nbsp; collectively reporting information. So that is why scouting is important. Information must flow. I mean rankings are subjective and will continue to be. No matter if it's PGH or the AP Poll, everything is subjective and someone is always gonna be upset.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As we move forward , I would like to highlight all&nbsp; the young ladies who are just outside of the top 10. You might ask how they got here. Well let me explain. This is through talking with opponent coaching, local newspapers, their body of work from scouting both on the travel circuit and Aau games. You have to take into consideration sometimes what an athlete does in travel ball, may not be the same thing she is asked to do in school ball. So all that is taken into account. These young ladies right here will be contributors at the next level based on their body of work they are displaying. Currently, they are impact players getting an assignment and fulfilling its execution.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The next wave of girls mentioned are pretty good. They may not be household names just yet, but they are gonna be. This kid gets after it and does so on both ends of the floor. The saying “ O is the show, D is the key,” bodes well for this young lady as she brings it nightly. On the defensive end, she is getting steals and deflections, leading to transitional fast breaks. On offense, she is knocking down shots from the arc or putting it on the floor to finish at the rim. She doesn't shy away from contact, going through them, playing in the air, creating that leverage that some don't want to contest. I will start off by saying this, she's a gamer, someone who comes ready to compete. She can stretch the floor on the offensive end, giving you buckets both inside and out. I love her defensive intensity, she slides her feet to keep opponent's in front, blocks shots, gets deflections, and steals. She may not always reach double figures in the scoring column (which she has done multiple times already this year), but its her ability to do the other things that help her club win that's impressive. This kid has a knack for putting the ball in the hole. She can play off the bounce, attack down hill, spot up, put backs, you name it, she's not going to be deterred from scoring. She too will lock up on the defensive end. You talking about a solid two-way player that gets after it, this girl is that and so much more. A gym rat who has work ethic, toughness, and displays a high basketball IQ. She gets it and every single time she steps onto the floor, prepare for a dog fight. A multi-level scoring threat who gets after it on both ends of the floor. She's the type of player you would have to carry off the floor because she loves this game so much. Passionate, have you ever seen or watched Paige Bueckers play? Let's just say this girl is cut from some of that same cloth. Ariyah is a 3 level scoring threat who can knock it down from the arc or wiggle her way to the rim to get a bucket. Has size, solid frame, and length that enables her to get steals and deflections on D, as well as block shots and grab boards. Has a nice feel for the game where she will exploit an area on the floor to make it her mark. This kid is going to be something special.
