At this point in the season we have about a month left until we are into Playoff action. With the sample size we already possess, here are some of the, "Alpha's", if you will, that have managed to average numbers so high that they rank in the top in some statistical category throughout the state at this point. This is no easy task and most stats aren't equal but these are still prospects who continue to produce and that is something everyone can respect.

The overall leader in APG, by a slim margin so far this Winer is CG - [player_tooltip player_id='788573' first='Jaylyn' last='Beran'] of Riceville High School. Beran is a 5'9 CG, that understands how to play the game the right way. She is currently tossing out 7.5 APG thourghout her contests and that gives her the lead at this time in that specific category. Riceville is sitting, looking down at everyone else in their conference at 6-0 and 11-1 overall. At this pace, we will be seeing this group at the State Tournament but they will still have to take care of business the next few weeks. If they focus on going 1-0 each night, they should have a good shot to make it happen.

To average double-digits in SPG is impressive in any way that you phrase it. That's what [player_tooltip player_id='1145150' first='Taylor' last='Henson'] of Lamoni High School is averaging this Winter so far. Henson's quick decision making, active hands, fast feet, and natural instincts make her a tough defender to match-up against. She can take it away from you while you dribble down the court or she can play back and wait for you to bring it to her. Either way, it usually ends on with Henson touching the basketball in some sort of way. We will see how far The Lamoni Demons can take it this Post Season. If they play to their full capabilities, they may surprise some teams so make sure to keep an eye out.

A taller prospect out of the 2A Class and War Eagle Conference is 6'1 Center, [player_tooltip player_id='842636' first='Abby' last='Douma']. Douma has been on the court for all 13 games this Winter for the Hawks and in those contests she is blocking 7.1 shots per game against their opponents. That is a pretty high number for this cateorgy and it says something. It says that Douma is one of the more dominant forces throughout her conference and anyone that wants to come into the lane for a finish near the bucket better think about it twice. With an 8-5 record this group is in the middle of the pack within their conference but they are looking to finish things off with a bang moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='509225' first='Averie' last='Lower'] has taken on a new role this season and it's for the better when you look at it from an outside perspective. Her team had a lot of pieces graduate after last season and she happens to be one of their only returning prospects. This has forced her to have to bring up the ball more often, moving away from the three point line to demonstrate her other skills. In those aspects of things, she has done a good job adapting. She is making her mark all over the floor in several different aspects, filling up the stat sheet while doing so. With that being said, Lower's best ability is to shoot the basketball and she is doing that at one of the highest rates in the state from the three point line. She is currently scoring 4 three pointers per contest, while shooting over 42% from behind the arc. Some pretty impressive and efficient numbers. I'm excited to see how she ends things these next few weeks moving into the Playoffs and eventually into AAU season. As long as she keeps up the momentum, she is sure to like her results when things come to a close.

The stat line that [player_tooltip player_id='842576' first='Gwen' last='Schroeder'] is putting up right now is elite. Throughout her Marquette team's 11 games, they are sitting at 9-2 and Schroeder is averaging a double-double with 14.5 PPG/16.4 RPG. This is one of the better stat lines throughout the state of Iowa at the moment but the thing that really sticks out to me with these numbers is that within those 16.4 RPG, 10.5 of them are on the offensive end of the floor. Those rebounding numbers, especially on that side of things, shows how much effort is being put into each possession by Schroeder and her squad. This Marquette Catholic program is 7-0 in conference and they are looking to finish things out undefeated going into the Playoffs. Something that is definitely do-able at this point in time.

One of the more compete PG's that the state of Iowa has to offer out of the 2025 Class at this time is [player_tooltip player_id='342195' first='Laynee' last='Hogan'] of East Buchanan High School. Hogan, a Wartburg Women's Basketball Commit, is dishing out assists left and right. She is currently third in the state in APG with nearly 7. This is just a small example of what Hogan can do. She can create off the catch or dribble, facilitating to others around her for open looks on a consistent basis. This is a skill-set that Wartburg happens to thrive on in their offense so looking forward, the future is very promising following this senior season.
