USE CODE "tinnon30" FOR 30% OFF THE FIRST PURCHASE OF ANY SUBSCRIPTION

As we enter Week 11 across the state, things are starting to heat up as teams play for important seeds in their district tournaments. Teams are starting to get their second go-around at opponents, which can make for some interesting storylines especially when it comes down to the standings. What I love about seeing a team twice, call them “get back” games. You might have got me the first time, but this second time, you should be ready.

Whatever the thought process may be, it is hard to beat someone twice let alone three times (if they happen to meet up in the postseason) in a year. During this time of the year, it really does come down to execution and skill. Teams have scouted you, they know what you are going to do, so taking each possession one at a time becomes even more important. It goes back to doing the little things well because it's going to come down to the essential things that aren't in the box scores. Boxing out, communication, being in position to help the helper, loose balls, hustle plays, things such as these will matter even more this second go around and down the stretch.

Here are some young ladies who are hot coming into Week 11.

Dropped 16 points against Columbia Academy Monday night. Coming off an ankle injury, AD was definitely feeling better for sure. Brought that attack mode out as she was aggressive getting down hill and finishing at the rim. She sprayed from the field as well, but her speed was too much for the Lady Bulldogs. Her D was also on display as she slowed down the opposition, giving her ball club extra opportunities to score. This kid may not be talked about much, but keep an eye on this transfer kid from Hendersonville as she fits right in as the 3rd Monster of the Lady Panthers attack.

Enters this week after blazing opponent's last week. This kid was on fire as she dropped 37 points from multiple spots on the floor. What stood out the most was her ability to contribute in other facets of the game: five steals, 5 rebounds, and dropped a few dimes. Also, she hit 21 earlier in the week as well. You can't tell me her confidence isn't soaring right now. Talented kid who is ready to take on all district foes and have FW in a great position come tournament time.

The Knox Central standout was filling it from Monday night. She had 27 points as her squad beat Jefferson County Monday night 49-35. AB was in her bag, knocking down shots all over the floor. She was super hot from 3, shooting it with confidence. Her team kept feeding her the ball as she was locked and loaded throughout the course of the game. Performances like this makes her squad tough to beat. Look for her to continue on this trajectory and come out strong in the upcoming contests.

Solid as a rock. Her game has grown over the years as she is the ultimate teammate. Whatever role is asked of her, she goes out and does her assignment well. Though her team lost in a tight battle to Northview 56-51, I just wanted to highlight her performance of putting in 22 points. Oftentimes she is overlooked, but this kid is a big time contributor in multiple aspects of the game. Keep doing what you are doing because your energy and effort will be important to this team down the stretch.

Solid prospect who is starting to wake up. For all the hoop heads out there, think of her game similar to Andre Iguodala's. She can score from all 3 levels, rebound, defend, ect. She can take over a game if need be, but that's really not her role. Her role is to go in and defend by utilizing her speed to wreak havoc. She had 17 points in their win over their neighbor Eagleville. Look for her to come out with even more confidence this week. She's sneaky good and can get after it on a consistent basis. Solid prospect who is going to start turning heads real soon.

A Arkansas softball signee who is the heart and soul of this Lady Eagles ball club. She had a team high 17 points in their team's loss to Rockvale Monday night. This talented kid has been the engine of this team, utilizing her speed to get to favorable spots on the floor. Her athleticism speaks volumes as she is all over the place doing her thing. Talented as all get out, I commend her for fighting each and every possession doing whatever it takes to help propel her ball club. She plays the game with a lot of passion and it shows in her style of play.
