Class A Region 2 - State Qualifier Prediction

DEVILS LAKE   Devils Lake plays a press-defense centered game and if you are not familiar with it, it can be very difficult to play against. They are very fast and athletic and have a young superstar. They have the pieces to repeat as State Champions in 2025.    Ava is a great reserve at the point guard position. She is fast and athletic and plays with a gritty toughness. She is a good driver to the rim and a good defender. She is good at closing out right to her girl in their half-court defense. She can initiate the offense and makes good decisions with the ball.     Cabryn is one of the better athletes in the state and a great fit for how Devils Lake plays. She is a hound defensively and is oftentimes at the top of their full-court press defense. She does a great job of knowing when to double and when to stay on her girl. Her long arms and good anticipation allow her to create steal opportunities for her team.     Tylie is a star and should be an All-State selection. She is an incredible talent and can score from anywhere and is very competitive. She is a hard worker and great defensively. She is a steady presence offensively and someone the Firebirds can rely upon to score each game. She was the Class A State Tournament MVP last season and she will be looking to repeat if given the opportunity this season.     Jolie is a solid post that fits in well with Devils Lake. She defends at a high level and is a good athlete. She rebounds well and plays with toughness. She doesn't force anything offensively and plays with nice patience.     Torri is a solid point guard and a multi-year starter for the Firebirds. She is very reliable with the ball and is a good passer. She sets her teammates up for easy baskets and is able to knock down shots as well. She is a good defender and is tough to get by in their full-court press. She is on her way to an All-Region selection this season.    THOMPSON   Thompson is a well-coached team with two scoring machines. They have a nice mix of athleticism and guard play that make them very tough to beat.    Jordyn is a great athlete with a strong base. She is able to compete with bigger girls due to her great strength. She is a good passer and rebounder. She sees the floor well and can hit her teammates cutting to the rim. She can run and finish in transition.     Addison is one of the best players in Class A and a true leader on the floor. She is a prolific three-point shooter, able to knock down shots from anywhere. She is a very skilled guard with great handles. She shows up in big games and her steady play will be needed if Thompson is going to make it back to the State Tournament in 2025.     Claire is a great point guard option that allows Thompson to play with three guards on the floor that can all handle the ball. She doesn't get flustered against full-court defense and is steady with her decision making. She is a very good on-ball defender. She uses her feet well and keeps her girl in front of her. She is a very good outside shooter as well.     Kya is Thompson's other top scorer. Like Addison, she can score from pretty much anywhere. She is an excellent outside shooter but is really tough going to the basket. She isn't super tall, but is a very strong and tough driver. She is able to gain advantages and keep them using her strength. She is ultra competitive and has had another terrific season.     Jailin is a true hustler out on the floor and has to defend bigger girls due to Thompson's lack of height. She does a great job of competing and plays bigger than her listed 5'9 size. She is a good post defender and competes for position near the rim. She is also a capable finisher in transition.    Carrington is another great team from Region 2 and one that has spent a majority of the season in the top 5 rankings.
