Class B Region 3 - State Qualifier Prediction

KENMARE/BOWBELLS   Kenmare/Bowbells is currently ranked 1st overall in the latest Class B rankings. They are 17-2 overall, 7-0 in District 5, and 8-0 in Region 3. Their two losses come against two top teams in Division A. They have two studs and a quality team that plays hard. They are a favorite to win the State B.    McKenna is a quality junior guard for the Honkers. She is athletic and is great defensively. She is a fast player and able to run the floor hard in transition. She can rebound and push the ball herself. She does a good job of pitching the ball ahead to teammates in transition. She is capable of scoring, but doesn't need to in order to positively impact the game.     Mashae is a superstar and All-State caliber type of player. She is a terrific shooter and can make shots with a high degree of difficulty, such as step back three-pointers. She is very quick and a great ball handler. She doesn't get sped up when opposing teams pressure her and can make easy passes to teammates in the press break. She also is a great screener. Kenmare has used her in a great 'little' to 'big' cross-screen action in the half-court.     Brea is another quality defender and good guard. She can handle the ball which give the Honkers two players who can initiate the offense. She is good at reading the ball-screen, refusing the high side ball-screen for easy baseline drives. She is able to do a nice pocket-pass to her teammates on the roll. She is a hustler and seems to always clean up the glass.     Anne is a key reserve Kenmare and would start on nearly every other team in Class B. She is very tall and athletic. She shines defensively. She has long arms and good hands, often deflecting passes or making it difficult to find any rhythm offensively. Kenmare also does a lot of switching, where Anne is able to switch naturally and compete with smaller guards as well as bigger posts.     Taya is another player who should be in consideration for a spot on the All-State team. She is very crafty around the rim and is very skilled. I have seen her lead the fast break and use an off-hand one handed pass to a teammate for a layup. She can also catch nearly every pass that is thrown to her, good or bad. She can finish and is great as a secondary defender.    LEWIS & CLARK HIGH SCHOOL - BERTHOLD   The Bombers are currently ranked 4th in Class B. They are 18-1 overall, 10-0 in District 6, and 10-0 in Region 3. Their size, athleticism, and shooting have shown why they are one of the best teams in the entire state.    Elyssa is a steady guard for the Bombers. She is an excellent rebounder for her size and plays very hard. She is a smart ball player and able to read how the ball will come off the rim on missed shots, putting herself in great position for offensive rebounds. Elyssa is a capable ball handler as well, with the ability to bring the ball up and initiate the offense. This allows [player_tooltip player_id='1136998' first='Addison' last='Neshem'] to play off the ball in the 2-guard spot.     Shayne is a great 2-guard option for her team. She is great at getting shot ready, with her feet set and hands showing a target. This provides her with great rhythm into drive and kick three-point opportunities. She can also drive to the basket and draw fouls, getting to the free-throw line where she can knock them down.     Addison is a stud and a big reason Berthold will have a chance at a State Title. She is a smooth offensive player who can score in many different ways. She can get downhill and attack the basket with the ability to get to the free-throw line. She has a great looking shot from deep with a quick release. The Bombers also post her up around the rim, which is a nice luxury to have as a coach. Addison is really good and it is scary to think she is only a sophomore.     Ella is key to Berthold's success. She is a super athletic freshman that can come into a game and change the pace of the game with her defense. She is an outstanding defender and is really good at shading opponents to their weak hand. She is a trustworthy guard on the offensive end. She plays off two feet on her drives and makes great decisions around the rim.     Kasey is one of the best athletes on the floor no matter who she plays. She moves extremely well and is an excellent jumper. She runs the floor hard and wide and is an outstanding rebounder. She can knock down the three, helping space the floor for Addison on her drives.     Aubree is a solid post and a great fit offensively for Berthold. Her ability to occupy space and defenders near the rim is valuable on her teammate's drives to the basket. If her girl helps, her hands are ready for a nice dump off pass for an easy bucket. She knows how to duck in and does a great job at keeping the ball high above her head on rebounds.    Tioga could easily come out of Region 3, where they are currently 17-2 overall, 8-1 in District 5, and 8-2 in Region 3. Tioga, Berthold, and Kenmare are top 5 teams in the state and it will be an absolute rock fight to come out of Region 3.
