New Hampton fell just short on Friday evening in their contest against Crestwood, 67-75. In this contest the leader for New Hampton, that put up impressive numbers is their Sophomore - Shooting Guard, [player_tooltip player_id='832214' first='Ava' last='Leichtman']. Leichtman finished things off with 25 points on 6-18 shooting. She also ended up finishing 2-8 from three and 7-11 from the free throw line so even though the ball wasn't falling from deep, she still demonstrated that she wasn't settling while trying to get to the bucket for either a finish or a foul. New Hampton doesn't have a ton of wins so far this season but Playoff's are coming up soon and anything can happen so if they play to Leichtman's strength's, who knows what could happen in the long run.

One of the best uncommitted 2026 prospects that the state of Iowa has to offer is [player_tooltip player_id='502240' first='Samantha' last='Becker'] of CR - Washington and [program_tooltip program_id='715980' first='Team' last='Iowa'] AAU. Becker leads by example, she handles pace extremely well, and she can do everything asked of her by her coaches at the PG position. Over the years her steady progression has been a key into becoming the prospect she is today. This is someone that could lead a very skilled and talented team as a creator or she can step up and be that primarily weapon within her offense. It just depends what kind of group she is leading. On Friday night Becker helped her Washington team to another victory with a 25 point (11-18) display. This is one of her best games of the season to date and it was against a crosstown rival in CR - Kennedy, so I'm sure she is satisfied with the evening as a whole.

[player_tooltip player_id='896746' first='Ella' last='Thornton']'s switch from high schools this season seems to have been a good choice at this point in her journey. Last night Thornton took it upon herself to help lead her Treynor team against Tri-Center. When the contest ended, Thornton was the game leader in points with 13. Coming into a school that has a long history of success can be somewhat intimidating but this is someone that has taken the bull by the horns in a sense. She has really driven into everything with an open mind and because of that, she is seeing some consistent success. Treynor always gives their opponents a run for their money so it'll be fun to see how they fair they next few weeks come Post Season play.

Whenever someone records 20 rebounds in a single contest in regulation time, it's noteworthy and that is what [player_tooltip player_id='1183159' first='Aubrey' last='Fergurson'] of Clinton High School did last night. Fergurson is a 5'10 Center for her team that controls the middle on both ends. When you look at her stats on the season, she usually averages around 13 RPG with those being evenly split on both offense and defense. Not to mention, she also is scoring around 9 PPG as well. When the River Queens have won this Winter, a main reason has been the play of Fergurson. As long as she carries that into her senior season, I think she will continue to make an impact for her squad in a few different ways.

There are a handful of players that CR - Washington possesses that could step up each night for a big game. Another player from this group that showed her arsenal at a thorough rate on Friday was CG, [player_tooltip player_id='832201' first='Elysionna' last='Westerfield']. We know Westerfield from the AAU floor but in reality, she is a good source of production at this point in her career for her varsity program. She might not be the one to average 30 and 10 each night but she does usually show up in a few different ways in the stat book and that is respectable.

[player_tooltip player_id='311396' first='Ava' last='Zediker']'s 38 point outburst on Friday evening against a highly ranked Waukee NW program was just the thing that we needed to see prior to the Post Season taking place. When you look at the big picture for the 5A Class, the reality is that Johnston is #1, DC is #2, and every other program seems to be a little further below that. If DC wants a real shot to beat Johnston when they meet again, Zediker is going to have to play one of the best games of her career. She won't be able to do it alone but she will be the driving force for the Maroons in reality. No matter how this season ends, Zediker is going to be great at Creighton following high school. We are going to hear about her for years to come at the next level and that just speaks to who she is going to be able to ultimately become as a prospect with the Bluejays.

When you are evaluating a prospect's skill-set to create and facilitate, a main component of their overall ability is how much they turn over the ball compared to how many of their passes lead to assists. In [player_tooltip player_id='1057734' first='Grace' last='Mullihan']'s case, yesterday she recorded a perfect game with 11 assists and 0 turnovers in her team's 76-48 win. Mullihan has that mixture of length and ability all coaches love. She has great vision in the open court and has a steady ability herself, which helps her in the passing game as she can play off of that. Denver is quietly sitting at 19-2 and dominating their competition so far this season when they do win. At this pace, this is a group that everyone is going to have to watch out for come Playoff time. If other's don't prepare properly, the Cyclones are going to be tough to stop.
